Hi varshikolla,

First off, a 710/Q49 is an outstanding Score, so you can comfortably apply to any Business Schools that interest you. As such, a retest is probably not necessary. An IR4 is a reasonable score for that section - but since most Schools still do not place any emphasis on an Applicant's IR Score, that result will likely not impact your applications at all. Since you know the Schools that you plan to apply to, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement.

There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

Hi varshikolla,

Congrats on a great GMAT score! Given that you scored Q49, I think that you’ll be fine despite your IR score. In any case, I agree that it would be helpful to reach out to one of the many admissions consultants here on GMAT club to get another opinion. If for any reason you end up retaking the GMAT, feel free to reach out, and I can provide some further advice.

Good luck!

Hey Varshikolla,

Congratulations on a 710. Its a great score with pretty balanced breakup.
For your target schools, you can apply comfortably without worrying about the IR score. Although an IR score of 5+ is good to have, its not a must have. Plus your AWA score of 6 brings good balance to overall official score report.
Admissions are based not just on GMAT but on the overall profile presented to admissions committees. I would suggest that you prepare well to create a winning profile and you should be on your way to the dream MBA.

Cheers !

Hi folks,

Firstly, I hope everyone is doing well amidst the pandemic. Please be safe!
So a couple of days ago I gave my GMAT and got a score of 710 - Q49,V38 (on my first attempt, so I am a little excited about it :) ) and 6 on AWA. However, I scored only 4 on IR and this is what is worrying me. As far as I have seen on the web and asked around, IR is not taken into consideration for application. But there is also the general feeling that IR scores are becoming important day after day. So I really don't know if I should take the test again - I know it depends on the schools I have applied for, so I am listing them below so you can give me better perspective.

1. ISB - the official website says IR scores aren't taken into consideration.
2. Schulich School of Business
3. Smith School of Business
4. HEC Montreal
5. National University of Singapore.

I would really appreciate any advice!
Thanks already. :)
