Confused between D & E .. would go with D

A,B,C out as 'it' has no identified Antecedent.

D maintains parallelism nicely. Determine...,identify..., find... Everything is clear Simple Present Tense. So,D correct.

E breaks parallelism in last half- in identifying.

Why option D has "THE VIRUS". Isn't it should be "A virus" as passage is not specifically talking about any specific virus. Passage is giving general information, which is valid for all viruses.
