A company has a policy governing the use of software licenses and the reporting of software usage for internal projects. According to the policy, a project manager must submit a license request and receive approval before any employee may use the software. Once the request is approved, licenses may be assigned to employees, and the software is made available. A project officially begins only after the software has been made available. Employees may use the software only during the official project timeline, and usage logs must be submitted within 15 days after the project concludes.

A project manager obtained a software license for the project and ensured that both the project manager and the team members complied with all policy requirements.

Select for Must be true the statement that must be true given the information provided and select for Must be false the statement that must be false given the information provided. Make only two selections, one in each column.

Good question, 3rd one is a trap I believe as it needn't be true...

Must be True - 4th - Only after someone identified the need, the manager would have obtained the licenses. So this is true.
Must be False - 1st - This can't be true as the question final sentence says everyone followed the rules of the policy. A team member had already started using the software for the project - this is against the policy, so def false.

According to the given paragraph the option 1 is always going to be False as it is mentioned that "the team members complied with all policy requirements." and this cannot be if the license was taken after the work began so MUST BE FALSE has option A as answer.

For MUST BE TRUE column in the option C there is not concrete evidence as the report could have been submitted in less than 10 days.
Option D is not concrete as well because there is no discussion of who identified the need for the software for the project.
Option E is out of scope as there is no expenses discussed.
So option A is the only answer remaining for MUST BE TRUE.

My answer:
1) Must be true: b) "the project manager's team used the software for the project only during the official project timeline"
2) Must be false: a) "the project manager submitted a license request after a team member had already started using the software for the project"

Rationale by Answer Choice

This could either be true or false, since the usage must be submitted within 15 days. So, it might be more or less than 10, but still less than 15.

4- A team member identified the need for the software for the project.

Nowhere in the policy says who should identify the need for the software. So, this could be either true or false.

5- The majority of the project-related expenses were related to licensing the software.

We have no information about the ratio of the costs. So, this could be either true or false.

Must be true: As per the policy the software need to be used till the time the project was completed. So the second statement should be answer

Must be false: As per the policy a software can be used only after submitting and getting approved of request. So the first satement that manager submitted the request after the 10 days of software usage must be false.
