Visulaising the proces helps here. The policy says that employees can use the software only after the license request is submitted and approved, and only during the official project timeline. also, the project officially starts only after the software is made available.

we're told the project manager ensured full compliance with all policy requirements.

if that's true, then it must be true that the team used the software only during the official project timeline. using it outside that window would break policy, so that statement must be true.

on the other hand, if the license request was submitted after a team member already started using the software, that would be a clear violation of the policy. since we’re told the manager followed all rules, this must be false. no usage could have started before the license request was submitted and approved.

the other statements may or may not be true based on the scenario, but they are not guaranteed or necessarily false based on the policy and what we're told. only the two selected stand out as must be true and must be false.

A company has a policy governing the use of software licenses and the reporting of software usage for internal projects. According to the policy, a project manager must submit a license request and receive approval before any employee may use the software. Once the request is approved, licenses may be assigned to employees, and the software is made available. A project officially begins only after the software has been made available. Employees may use the software only during the official project timeline, and usage logs must be submitted within 15 days after the project concludes.

A project manager obtained a software license for the project and ensured that both the project manager and the team members complied with all policy requirements.

Select for Must be true the statement that must be true given the information provided and select for Must be false the statement that must be false given the information provided. Make only two selections, one in each column.

Rules:

1. License must be requested and approved before any employee uses the software.
2. Software becomes available after license is approved.
3. Project begins only after software is available.
4. Employees may only use the software during the official project timeline.
5. Usage logs must be submitted within 15 days after the project ends.

Statement 1: Must Be False
→ This violates the policy that no employee may use the software before license approval. If the team complied, this cannot have happened.

Statement 2:

Must Be True
→ The policy requires this, and it is stated that the team complied with all requirements.

Statement 3:Could Be True
→ This is within the 15-day requirement, but not required or prohibited by policy.

Statement 4: Could Be True
→ Policy doesn’t specify who identifies the need—only that the project manager must submit the request. So this is neutral.

Statement 5- Could Be True
→ No information is provided about cost distribution—this is out of scope.

Correct selection:
Must Be True → Statement 2; Must Be False → Statement 1.

This question is very straightforward.

Must be true: The project manager’s team used the software for the project only during the official project timeline.
Must be false: The project manager submitted a license request after a team member had already started using the software for the project.

Looking through the options:

The project manager submitted a license request after a team member had already started using the software for the project - MUST BE FALSE - it is given to us that a license request is submitted before any employee may use the software.

The project manager’s team used the software for the project only during the official project timeline. - MUST BE TRUE - it is given to us that employees may use the software only during the official project timeline

The project manager submitted the usage logs exactly 10 days after the project ended - this may or may not be true. The manager can submit it anytime between 0 to 15 days after project ends.

A team member identified the need for the software for the project - not mentioned about need anywhere in passage.

The majority of the project-related expenses were related to licensing the software - expenses are also not mentioned anywhere in the passage

-need to ask for permission and get approval before anyone uses the software, after permission the software is set up and ready.
Project can start only after software is ready and can be used only during official dates and report should be send within 15 days of completion.
So - Must be true can only be:The project manager’s team used the software for the project only during the official project timeline.
And must be false:The project manager submitted a license request after a team member had already started using the software for the project

Maybe it was. Maybe it was compensating the family after an employee jumped off the roof because of the unnecessary red tape. I think the latter.

1. Must be false:
"The project manager submitted a license request after a team member had already started using the software for the project."
=> This would violate policy rule, which says "According to the policy, a project manager must submit a license request and receive approval before any employee may use the software"

2. Must be true:
"The project manager’s team used the software for the project only during the official project timeline."
=> Aligned with Policy rule, which says "Employees may use the software only during the official project timeline"

If we analyze the options one by one, we find that -

The project manager submitted a license request after a team member had already started using the software for the project - This cannot be true as it is explicitly mentioned that a project manager must submit a license request and receive approval before any employee may use the software. Since we are told that the project manager obtained a software license for the project and ensured that both the project manager and the team members complied with all policy requirements, this is definitely false

The project manager’s team used the software for the project only during the official project timeline - This definitely must be true as we know that the team members complied with all policy requirements & one of the requirements is that employees may use the software only during the official project timeline

The project manager submitted the usage logs exactly 10 days after the project ended - This may or may not be true as the condition is that the usage logs must be submitted within 15 days after the project concludes. It may be submitted maybe 5 days later or 12 days later. Irrelevant option.

A team member identified the need for the software for the project. - Out of scope. This is not mentioned anywhere in the passage

The majority of the project-related expenses were related to licensing the software. - No mention of expenses related information anywhere. Out of scope

The correct answers are -

Must be true - The project manager’s team used the software for the project only during the official project timeline.
Must be false - The project manager submitted a license request after a team member had already started using the software for the project.

We are to select the right statement for "Must be true" that must be true given the information provided and for "Must be false" the statement that must be false given the information provided.

The project manager submitted a license request after a team member had already started using the software for the project. - Given that the manager ensured that both project manager and team members complied with requirements, this must be false.
The project manager’s team used the software for the project only during the official project timeline. - Given that both project manager and team members complied with requirements, this must be true.
The project manager submitted the usage logs exactly 10 days after the project ended. - This doesn't necessarily need to be true as it can be extended up to 15 days, exactly within 10 days is not a requirement.
A team member identified the need for the software for the project. - Irrelevant to the question
The majority of the project-related expenses were related to licensing the software. - Irrelevant to the question

Correct options are:

Must be true : The project manager’s team used the software for the project only during the official project timeline.
Must be false : The project manager submitted a license request after a team member had already started using the software for the project.

(B) must be true.

And as stated, a project manager must submit a license request and receive approval before any employee may use the software.

As per the stimulus, "a project manager must submit a license request and receive approval before any employee may use the software", hence this statement must be false.

2. The project manager’s team used the software for the project only during the official project timeline.

As per the stimulus, " Employees may use the software only during the official project timeline", so this statement must be true.

We've the answers. No need to check the other options.
