Hi Armaan.

In the TTP in-course chat, you mentioned that you had taken multiple practice tests in the days leading up to your GMAT. So, you may have been a little overtired on test day, and your being in such a state could have affected your performance.

So, I think we can go with the idea that your current normal score level is around 680 to 710, which means that you don't have all that far to go to achieve your score goal.

Now, to get to your score goal, you could strengthen some weaker quant areas and improve your execution in verbal.

I realize you are pretty strong in quant already, but we can tell that there are some quant areas in which you could be stronger. So, to build a strong foundation for a high score, you should continue to strengthen your skills in those areas by doing topic-focused review and practice.

Then, in verbal, you should continue to practice untimed and shoot for long streaks of correct answers in each topic area to learn to execute better and become more consistent.

Finally, you should keep working on your psychology to improve your ability to focus and more firmly set your intention on hitting your score goal on test day.

Thanks Marty!
That's right, I had the offical exam on Monday, but I gave full length mocks in realistic conditions on Friday and Saturday. I tried to study the next day, but I was so tired that my head started to hurt, so I just spent rest of day trying to relax.

Hi armaankumar,

I'm sorry to hear that your 2nd Official attempt did not turn out better. A 650/Q47 is still a solid Score though - and it may be enough to get you into your first choice School. When these types of score drops occur, the two likely "causes" involve either something that was unrealistic during practice or something that was surprising (or not accounted for) on Test Day. While you made some nice improvements to your Quant performance, your Verbal Verbal results were similar to the ones from your 1st Official GMAT (10 months ago) - meaning that you may have developed some 'bad habits' during your studies that are keeping you from scoring higher. Before we discuss any of these various potential issues though, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) Over the last 3 months, how many hours did you typically study each week?
2) What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used besides the Official CATs?
3) What are your current application plans? When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?
