GMAT Scoring Grid

GMAT Club has maintained a GMAT Scoring Table and a GMAT Scoring Grid since 2012 when PTK created the GMAT Score table.

GMAT Score Consists of 5 Scores:
  • Overall Score on a scale from 200 to 800 (GMAC now calls it Total Score)
  • Raw Quant Score on a scale from 6 to 51 (51 is getting more common, it is the max score and only 96th percentile)
  • Raw Verbal Score on a scale from 6 to 51 (anything over V45 is very rare. There is no V43 technically, it goes from V42 to V44)
  • AWA Score on a scale from 1 to 6
  • IR Score on a scale from 1 to 8

This GMAT Scoring Grid will help you calculate your Total GMAT Score based on Quant Score and Verbal Score. You can also locate percentiles that correspond to each of the raw scores. The total score percentiles are below. Note that sometimes the same combination of Q and V may result into a different Total Score just like sometimes different combination of Q and V can result into the same Total Score. For example Q49, V42 can be 750 and so can Q50, V41. The reason is that the Total Score and Sectional Raw Scores are calculated independently!

Hi, I scored 48 on Quant and 47 on Verbal, and according to this I should have gotten a 770, but got a 760. Don't get me wrong, I'm super happy with my score, but it this grid supposed to be a fast & hard rule?

Congrats on your score! You will be posting a debrief? Maybe?
To answer your question, well.... it is a complicated answer since the total and sectional raw scores are calculated differently.

Hi All,

It does not appear that anyone addressed aditya96166's question from a couple of months ago - but the issue there is confusing PERCENTILES with SCALED SCORES. The two numbers that aditya96166 posted are the Percentiles from that Exam (which would lead to an Overall Score right around a 550). IF those were Scaled Scores, then the Overall Score would clearly have been a lot higher.
