Hello,

I'm taking my first GMAT in March, and if I am not completely satisfied with my score, plan on taking it once more in June.

Forgive me as I am new to this, but the GMAC asks which schools to send my score to (up to 5).

Do I need to choose schools right now to send the score to? What if I don't do well, and want to send my second score later?

Ideally, if all goes well by June, I want to apply to B-schools so that I can apply this summer.

You don't have to choose but I advise to choose the school anyway.

If you choose schools and cancel the scores you will be receiving, the scores won't be sent. For example, you chose 5 school this round but scored lower than expected, the score you cancelled will not be sent to the schools. However, if it goes well,the scores will be sent because you haven't cancelled.

You can choose to not select school but for every school you want to send later, it costs $25 (I think? Or $29?).

As mentioned above (by @Mimster), you can choose to purchase additional score reports ($28 each). If you want to send your second score to program X, it's not enough to select X in the 5 for the first attempt. You will have to either select X in the 5 for the second attempt or purchase an additional score report after the second attempt.

It's almost always a good idea to select 5 programs before any GMAT attempt.

Hi Tony,

As part of the $250 Test Fee, you are given the right to send your score to up to 5 Schools - BUT you have to pick the Schools that day (before you get to see your Unofficial Score results). If you do not select any Schools, or want to send your score to a School later on that is not among the 5 that you have chosen, then there is a fee of $28 per School that you send your Official Score Report to. Since you have the ability to cancel your Score after you've seen it - and Schools will NOT receive a Report that is 'Cancelled' - then you should absolutely select 5 Schools to receive that Report (it essentially saves you up to $140 in fees that you would have to pay later on).
