Hi BB,

My question here is how to access the gmat club tests once you have 200 posts? will it be enabled automatically? or some other procedure?

the question arises from this line of your post "For tests, the best recommendation is the GMAT Club tests which are specifically designed to go from 45 to 50+ quant score. They are free if you have 200 posts on the forum or you can also buy access to 1000+ questions for $79. You can read a number of testimonials of 700+ scorers here. "

Re: GMAT Study Plan: go from 650 to 700+ [#permalink]
Hi There,

Hoping for some advice

After 3 months of study( whilst working) I took GMAT 1 year ago scoring 680, 38 verbal, 44 quant. I was incredibly nervous and realized half way through the quant questions that I had completed in a quarter of the time and so had been racing ahead due to nerves and missed a few of the tricks in questions which is very disappointing as quant is (or WAS) my strength.

I was testing at 740, so was really hoping for 700-720 so I was really disappointed as I do know I can do better. Emotional exhaustion from the whole ordeal lead me to leave things for a year and I am now gearing up for round 1-2 admissions.

1) Basic demographic info: age, gender, nationality
Age: 29
Gender: F
Nationality : I hold Australian and Cypriot (EU) Citizenship

2) Educational Background: undergrad major, GPA, GMAT score, any grad work you've done
Undergrad Major : Bachelor of Applied Science
GMAT SCORE : 680 (Q44 V 38)
GPA : 2.8

3) Work experience: what is your current role? Have you had any promotions? What industry do you work in? For how long have you worked?
Current Role - Sales and Inventory Analyst
Promotion - yes
Industry - Retail fashion industry
Past Job - Purchasing Analyst(1.5 Years)
Total Experience - 7 years on global retail markets within both UK and Australian positions.

4) Extracurriculars: do you participate in any extra-curricular activities? What is your role there? For how long have you been involved?
Member of local social swimming club
2nd violin in community orchestra - i played for 10 years when I was young and have picked it back up over the last 1-2 years
other interests: yoga, photography, developing my french skills

5) Short/Long term goals: what do you want to do after your MBA? Any geographic preferences?
No geographic preference - Europe, UK or potentially US.
Post-MBA I'd like to either move into retail/supply chain consulting in some capacity or into a larger retailer focussing on their e-commerce platform/strategy - there are many post-MBA grad roles of interest which cycle through strategy/purchasing/supply chain.

6) Schools: Which schools have you considered already? Any on your initial short list?
Considering:
Cambridge judge
Insead
HEC
NYU stern
Columbia
Oxford Said

Thanks for any input.

DO I NEED TO DO THIS AGAIN?

I have 1-2 months where i could reattempt and still apply by end september but I wonder if my time is better utilized on my applications? should i do those first and submit then resit GMAT in Oct/Nov?

Keen for any advice

Re: GMAT Study Plan: go from 650 to 700+ [#permalink]
thank you bb.

after reading your book list, i tired to see if i can purchase kindle version of the fictions you recommend on Amazon US, then i found out that most of the books you recommended do not have a kindle version. since i am an international student fr China, there is no way that i can afford to purchase the real books fr Amazon US and have them shipped to me(it also didnt take long before i realized that i am not allowed to purchase books from Amazon US kindle store since my device and account are Chinese ones)

However! i remembered that the Kindle store of Amazon China is offering original English edition books , so i started to try to search your book list in Amazon China Kindle store, and i am so happy that i found almost all of it! The Great Gatsby only sell for 15 yuan=2.27 dollars, most of the books are around 5 dollars. oh yeah!
then i spent some more time searching for other best seller English books on Amazon US and then search them again in Amazon China kindle store. i not only found most of them but also found some were covered with the Kindle unlimited service which means i can get them free.

since i have a Chinese kindle and my bf fr US has an American kindle, it is funny to see that how i can purchase the books selling in his country but he cant...i am even starting to consider buying him a Chinese kindle so that he can get those books' kindle version and get it cheap!

i suggest that you can add an reminder on your post to those international students who has no channel for getting the real English edition books(even the real English edition books are selling in the Chinese book store, it often cost 30-50 dollars to get one, too expensive), asking them to check the kindle store of their countries to see if they can get the books you recommended and try to practice with your approach.

I want to let you know that this forum is really helpful and my score did improve by more than 50 points.

MUST DO
1. Become a GMATCLUB premium member and solve all the quant sets
2. Listen to RON videos from Manhattan prep
3. Take Manahattan CAT (they score a bit lower, so don't be scared)
4. Take GMATPrep CAT for an accurate reflection of your score

Thank you GMAT Club.

Thank you very much for this helpful post! The only thing I still struggle to really understand is how to use the error log. Is there a throughout explanation on that somewhere? Thanks
