Hi team,
Recently took my GMAT, I won't be applying to B school for another 3 or so years, but wanted to quickly evaluate whether I have a chance at the schools below based on my profile. I know I should probablyyyy take the GMAT again at some point in the future, but given how busy work is and my target schools I wanted to evaluate my chances first.

Hi there,
Academically, a GPA of 3.9 showcases your academic prowess which coupled with your international exposure will help differentiate you from the crowd. Most schools are looking to add diversity to their cohort and your background gives you a unique perspective which definitely provides a valuable addition to their program.
While your grades do play an important part, your extracurricular activities and your other endeavors matter as well because AdComs are constantly looking for applicants with holistically developed profiles. Thus, it is essential to shed light on the endeavors you’ve taken up at the clubs, associations, fest, and events you managed or participated in during your undergrad/postgrad.
For your extracurricular activities, your achievements and role of founding and leading the Investment Club as well as being designated as the president of the Investment Banking Club during your UG showcases your leadership skills and ability to take on initiatives. Therefore, make sure you elaborate on your entrepreneurial traits, what you did in these roles, and how you handled problems, planned the events, raised funds, etc. You should dig deeper into this aspect and bring out varied skills in your profile. Though to be clear, Adcoms are more interested in impacts created, rather than participation, hence highlighting your quantifiable achievements would help enhance your application.
As far as your work experience goes, you should focus on explaining and highlighting major projects of your work and how these experiences helped you develop and further groom your skills and knowledge. Additionally, since you lack big brands in your CV and you would be competing against applicants with work experience from the big four firms, you need to highlight why you chose these firms, how you have gone beyond the role, any initiatives you’ve taken, and any kinds of impacts created to showcase a strong profile.
Moreover, since an MBA focuses more on the quality of the work and the brand name, you should attempt bagging a job in the big four firms within the time period of 3 years or so before enrolling for the program.
Furthermore, you could take up some courses or certifications in the field of management, as top b schools are on the lookout for those who are constantly on the path of upskilling themselves. Also showcasing any volunteering or CSR activities that you participated in during your work experience would strengthen your application. If you do not have any yet you should definitely work for a social cause or an NGO as it would showcase your drive to give back to society.
As for your GMAT, your overall score is on the lower end and for most of the management courses, it is one of the referencing points. That said, if you are open to boosting your score further, I would recommend that you retake the GMAT to improve your score by 50-60 points and aim for a minimum overall score of 710 and above to increase your chances at the top business schools like Georgetown, Vanderbilt, Emory, and Cornell.
Overall you have a pretty decent profile and you can be targeting several programs at the top schools. As for the schools you are targeting, Cornell and Vanderbilt fall into the dream category while Georgetown and Emory fall into the competitive category.
You would have a 40-50% chance of getting an admit from the schools in the dream category and a 60-70% chance from the schools in the competitive category. Even though you have a pretty good profile but you need to remember that you will be competing with aspirants with equally good or better profiles. Hence, to increase your chances of getting admitted to these schools you would need to ensure that you have a very strong application to back your profile. Hence, you need to back the application with finely drafted LORs, Resumes, and Essays that highlight your strengths and overshadow your weaknesses.
Moreover, whenever you are applying to schools abroad, it is always better to target a good mix of dream, competitive, and safe schools. Hence you can broaden your options, and thus look at 7-8 more schools in the respective mix of categories that better fit your profile.
