How long does it take to drive from the factory to the warehouse?

(1) It takes 15 minutes to drive from the factory to the harbor.
no warehouse is mentioned
insufficient

(2) It takes 25 minutes to drive from the warehouse to the harbor.
no factory is mentioned
insufficient

together we still do not know the time, because we do not know the location of each. Maybe the factory is in between harbor and warehouse, or that the warehouse is in the middle. It could be that they are not in a straight line and in different corners.

Q: Time taken from Factory to Warehouse?

1) Factory to Harbor takes 15 minutes - alone clearly not sufficient, since we do not know the time from harbor to warehouse
- eliminate A,D
2) Warehouse to harbor takes 25 minutes - this statement alone is also not sufficient because we do not know the time taken from factory to harbor

statement 1 and 2 together:
There are 2 possible cases, which are
case 1. Factory - Warehouse - Harbor
case 2. Factory - Harbor - Warehouse

We know that time taken from factory to harbor is 15 minutes, and from warehouse to harbor is 25 minutes.
So, case 1 is not possible because factory to harbor cant take longer time than warehouse to harbor.
Only case 2 possible. We know that Factory - Harbor (15 min) + Harbor - Warehouse (25 min) = 40 min in total from factory to warehouse.

How long does it take to drive from the factory to the warehouse?

(1) It takes 15 minutes to drive from the factory to the harbor.
(2) It takes 25 minutes to drive from the warehouse to the harbor.

rephrase: time to drive from F to W;
(1) It takes 15 minutes to drive from the factory to the harbor: insufi.
(2) It takes 25 minutes to drive from the warehouse to the harbor: insufi.

(1&2): insufic.
case 1: F---15---H---25---W… F---W=15+25=40
case 2: W--10(=25-15)--F---15---H… F---W=10+15=25

To find the time taken to reach warehouse from factory we need to find the relative position of factory and Warehouse. Consider the speed be constant.

(1) It takes 15 minutes to drive from the factory to the harbor.
Case 1) F – – – – – – – ‒ → H – – – – – – – ‒ → W
Case 2) F – – – – – – ‒ – → W – – ‒ – ‒ – – ‒ → H
Case 2) H ← – – – – – – – – F – – – – – – – ‒ → W

Where \(F → H = 15\) minutes and \(F → W > 15\) or \(F → W < 15\) or \(F → W = 15\).

Clearly, INSUFFICIENT.

(2) It takes 25 minutes to drive from the warehouse to the harbor.
Case 1) W – – – – – – – – – ‒ → H ← – – – – – – – – ‒ ‒ F
Case 2) W ← – – – – – – – – ‒ → F – – – – – – – – – ‒ → H
Case 3) F – – – – – – – – – – ‒ → W – – – – – – – – – ‒ → H

Where \(W → H = 25\) minutes and \(F → W > 25\) or \(F → W < 25\) or \(F → W = 25\)

Clearly, INSUFFICIENT.

Together 1) and 2)
Case 1) W – – – – – – – – – – ‒ → H ← – – – – – – – ‒ F
Thus, \(F → W = 25 + 15 = 40\)

Case 2) W – – ‒ → F – – – – – ‒ → H
Thus, \(F → W = 25 - 15 = 10\)

Clearly, INSUFFICIENT.

Answer (E).

IMO it's E because there could be two cases.
1) H-----15-----F---10---W
2) F-----15-----H---------25---------W
We cannot determine distance between F and W.

Combined insufficient as the three points can draw multiple triangles so we choose E. However, we can confirm that it will take between 10 and 40 minutes to drive from the factory to the warehouse from triangle inequality.

It is obvious that A&B alone are not sufficient. Checking for C & E,

Consider the arrangement
Harbor--15mins-- Factory--10 mins--Warehouse , in this case factory to warehouse is 10 mins away.

Consider another arrangement
Factory--15mins--harbor--25 mins--warehouse, in this case, it is 40 mins away.

Hence E, not sufficient.

#1
time 15 mins to drive from factory to harbor but factory to WH both distance and speed is not given
insufficient
#2
It takes 25 minutes to drive from the warehouse to the harbor.

no relation b/w factory and WH insufficient
from 1&2
we do not know distance amongst the 3 locations; insufficient
