Re: IESE Barcelona vs Michigan Ross [#permalink]

Hi! I've received an admit from both IESE Business School and Ross School of Business in Michingan. I am struggling to make a decision. I am very sure that I will come back to Nepal and join my family business after my MBA, so a better job is not a criteria while choosing a school. I feel Barcelona will give me better overall development because of the exposure to one of the best cities in the world. Suggestions?

Congrats :)

Although I agree Barcarole can't be compared to Ann Arbor, I can't compare the 2 programs as well. I'm leaning to Ross in you case. Ross has more diverse students and big network that could be helpful in your area when you return Nepal. Also, the electives, which you can see in their website, are wide and could give you more business insights. You do not miss IESE totally as you can do an exchange term there. check below:

Quite often, family business grads want to get some consulting work experience post-graduation before returning home (to pay off loans) and Ross seems the better option for that, because you speak English fluently. Do you speak Spanish or have any intention to learn?

I realize Ann Arbor doesn't have quite the same allure as the beaches of Barcelona but I do sincerely feel you might get more mileage out of Ross, the program has strengths in every discipline, the MAP project is great preparation, and the practicality of the program might be best suited to it's application to a family business. Also, alumni connections in Asia.

I agree with the poster about doing a semester at IESE.

The OP has startet at IESE and then left for Ross after only 2 months. Wise decision! ;-)

I know the guy! :-)

For Ross, it was the Jan intake. That way he could still make up his mind and see if he likes IESE...but he didn't. Would have done the same, had I had the chance.

Based on your posts, you dont seem to be too happy about IESE. Can you elaborate on that please? What about the program didn't you like?

Was it the useless Spanish government that turned him off?
