$$500 = 5^3* 2^2$$
Also$$( a^(1/3) *b^(1/2))^6 = a^2*b^3$$
Hence a can be 2, b can be 5.
But a+b =7.
It is not in the option.

Bingo: we have forgot the fact that even power changes negative to positive.
Actually a can be +/- 2
Now considering a = -2, b =5
Hence a+b = -5+2 =3. Answer B
