Find 4a/3b, if b not equal to 0

1. a = b+2

Insert a value in the equation
4 (b+2) / 3b = (4b+8)/3b - not sufficient, because we dont know value of b

2. a = 2b

Insert a value in the equation, we get
4(2b)/3b = 8/3 - sufficient

Thus, B is the correct answer

\(\frac{4a}{3b}\)

Statement 1: a = b + 2

a and b can take any number of values and that will give us different answers for \(\frac{4a}{3b}\)

INSUFFICIENT. AD/BCE

Statement 2: a = 2b

Substitute a = 2b in the equation

\(\frac{4(2b)}{3b}\)

\(\frac{8b}{3b}\) = \(\frac{8}{3}\)

SUFFICIENT

Therefore the answer is B

Statement 1 is not sufficient because knowing that a=2+b means 4a/3b
= (4b+8)/3b= 4/3 + 8/3b
Since we don’t know the value of b, there are countless possibilities.

Statement 2 is sufficient since it leads to 4*2b/3b =8/3.
The answer is therefore B.

#1
4*(b+2)/3b ; 4b+8/3b
b not know insufficient
#2
a = 2b
8b/3b ; 8/3
sufficient
IMO B

If b does not equal 0, what is the value of 4a/(3b)?

(1) a = b + 2

(2) a = 2b

If b does not equal 0, what is the value of \frac{4a}{3b}?
b ≠ 0,

(1) \(a = b + 2\)
 \(\frac{4a}{3b} = \frac{4(b + 2)}{3b}\)
 \(\frac{4a}{3b} = \frac{(4b + 8)}{3b}\)

INSUFFICIENT.

(2) \(a = 2b\)
 \(\frac{4a}{3b} = \frac{4*2b}{3b}\)
 \(\frac{4a}{3b} = \frac{8b}{3b} = \frac{8}{3}\)

SUFFICIENT.

Answer(B).
