Hello Sara989

With 1-2 years of work ex, you will not meet the eligibility criteria of 1 year programs at IIMs.
Not sure if I am missing something in the post.

Hello every one...

Request your help in profile assessment. Planning for 2023 cycle, asking for evaluation to develop profile accordingly

Background:
Indian/Female
Safety Analyst (Chemical and Environmental engineering safety in Singapore)
Experience - 1yr (2 yrs at time of application)

UG degree:
Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering
Nanyang Technological University Singapore
GPA: 3.4/5

12th: IB 42/45
10th: IGCSE 7A*, 1A

GMAT: 720 (June 2020)

Volunteering and Leadership:
1) Volunteering at community center, mainly mentoring students weekly

2) OCIP Deputy leader (2019): Lead a team of 22 to Laos on a service project trip to build a solar panel system while also conducting enrichment sessions for the students there.

I guided the team through the tasks and planned and executed team activities to ensure team bonding alongside personal development and reflection. Also, helped resolve conflicts stemming from differences in personalities and opinions apart from unfamiliar and unique environment (no phone signal or lights available readily, scarce electricity connection, language barrier)

3) OCIP Programmer (2017): As a programmer, I designed and executed activities and lessons for around 90 children in Laos such that the team and students could interact with ease despite the language barrier. Furthermore, I also planned and carried out sales and fundraising events for the same.

I am looking for some honest assessment. I am looking to get into PGPX at IIM B or similar.

Thanks in advance

first of all, great GMAT score!
The GMAT score can easily compensate for other academic scores so should not be a worry. The school would be more interested in your professional career as in how have you shaped your career so far. With a compelling essay, I think you stand a good chance for an interview call for IIM C.

On a different note, any reason as to why you are not applying for other Indian B schools?

Thank you shr90 :) I started preparing for the GMAT late and IIMC was the school open with 3 round applications. However, I can try next year, provided if I don't get a call from IIMC.

Hello meerack0

While past scores and GMAT are decent, very little information around other aspects of your profile to give a detailed feedback.
What university did you graduate from, Experience in IT as what, What has been the career progress and key achievements, What are your career goals, impact/achievements in extracurricular.
Such qualitative details will be essential in making up a successful application/interviews.

Hello kishorkumar,

You definitely need to work on your GMAT score for you to have a realistic chance at the schools you are targetting. At the same time, we are not sure of the programs you are targetting at the IIM's because you will not be eligible for the executive programs.

Our suggestion is to get some additional work experience, improve your GMAT score (aim for a score in excess of 710), and then apply.

All the best!

Hi Kishor,

The programs you are targeting definitely facilitate the lateral shift such as banking to supply chain. Apart from working on your GMAT score, which would add more value to your application at 700 or above, you should consider building skills to facilitate the transition you plan. If you demonstrate a preparedness or orientation to work in Supply Chain & Logistic industry it would position you as a stronger applicant.

Regards

Hello SB14,

Apologies for the delayed response.

Assuming you are applying to the 2023 intake (as we are not sure what you mean by next year intake), we strongly recommend a GMAT retake. 590 is not going to be enough for most Indian schools let aside the IIMs.

All the best!

Hi,
Evaluating your profile as below:
You have a strong academic background. The GMAT score is also within range, however if you can retake and move it higher, that will help. The work profile also has considerable achievements. The "why MBA" might need some refinement. How the faculty perceives it throughout the process is something that you need to work upon. Since the number of seats at IIM A, B, C, L are limited the process is quite competitive.

All the best!

Hello igtroy123123

The work ex will surely help you stand out and seems to show potential of good story telling (reflecting from your post and also sales/marketing is easier to show impact).
School/University extracurricular seem dated, but some of the recent ones can help add brownie points on diversity.
GMAT is lower than par for top IIMs, but could potentially be compensated with your work ex. However, if you have time retry for a 700+.
Lastly, looking at career goals, while your passion is visible, the goals are not very clear or specific. What sort of roles/companies are you targeting and how will you use the MBA to fill the skill gaps or build on existing skills. More work is needed here, but good news is you have time to work on this.
To summarize, decent chances wrt to work ex, but need work on career goals. GMAT can spring a surprise if the first two are not done well.

You may want to read here on what factors work in a profile and here to add to your research on career goals.

Hello igtroy123123,

Sorry for the delayed response but we hope this finds you in time still.

You have strong professional background keeping in mind your promotions, achievements, and cross-cultural experiences. Considering the top 3 IIM's can get very competitive, we would encourage you to improve your GMAT score. A score in excess of 720 along with a set of well-crafted essays will give you a strong chance of garnering some fine admits.

All the best!
