I am writing my GMAT in 5 weeks. In the past I have scored 3-4 on the IR because I haven't really paid much attention to it. I was more focused on Quant and verbal. I don't want to spend more time than is necessary to IR because it won't have that much of an impact on my application. But at the same time I don't want to get lower than 6. I think 6-7 is a good score for me.
I am wondering how low do people generally study for IR? I am allocating one week to it. Is that enough or is that too much? I don't want to go overboard and end up scoring 8 because i really don't care about IR that much.... Is there a study plan people can suggest? 1 week straight? 1 hour for 4 weeks? Should i read or do a lot of practice tests?
Thanks!

One week should be more than enough (in fact, 4-5 days are sufficient) if your general quant and data analysis capabilities are decent. 1 hour for 4 weeks is definitely overkill. Here is the suggestion for a plan: - Spend 2 hours/day for the first couple of days going through the types of questions on the IR section and making yourself familiar with them - For the next 3 days, take one IR test each and analyze them. - Assuming that you will anyway take full-length GMAT mock tests as you get closer to your real test date, the IR sections within those will provide further practice and that should be more than sufficient for a score of 6+.
