x^2 <= 5x ====> |x| ≤ √5x

While its true, but in this case x HAS to be a positive or 0. If x is a negative no. there is no real value for √5x. Do you agree?
Now the question states that is x<0 which means that they are asking if x is negative. Hence, from statement 2 we can confidently say that x is not negative. Hence S2 is sufficient by itself.
