Can someone share a proven strategy for RC time management? I am taking 15-20 mins to solve each long passage from Gmat Club’s collection of 700-750 level RCs. Since I started, I have made little improvement on the time I take. I started 2 months ago but practiced only sporadically.

In the small town of Oakville, the proprietors of the three locally owned coffee shops located there were dismayed to see that a major coffee shop chain with a big marketing budget had decided to open a shop in town. However, much to the surprise of the locally owned coffee shops’ proprietors, after the major coffee chain’s shop opened, all three locally owned shops experienced significant increases in business.

Which of the following does the most to explain the surprising outcome?
1. Most of the people who regularly drink coffee in Oakville prefer the taste of the locally owned shops’ coffee over that of the major chain’s coffee.
2. During peak hours, the length of time customers spend in line at the major chain’s shop is often longer than some people are willing to wait.

3. The proprietors of the locally owned coffee shops have run the shops for many years and are familiar to residents of Oakville.

4. The marketing messages that the major chain’s shop puts out to potential customers have convinced many that drinking coffee is enjoyable and life enhancing.

5. The major chain’s shop serves not only coffee but also gourmet sandwiches and desserts.

Can anyone explain why is B wrong

Yes, that makes sense because all the other factors are same except the D

I mean they were still there before the major coffe chain was opened

B. Peak hours—-people won’t wait —- go to other coffee shops —increased sales.

What’s wrong with this ?

Because peak hour business was still there before opening of major chain shop

Major chain shop market message convienced or created new customer that lead to increase in business for all the shops

Listen Vivek u need to see the catch, not only did the customers not move to major chain, but the existing customer base rose of coffee drinkers

now search the answer which could have done that ?

what could have increased the local coffee shops market

one way is that the advertising helped increase coffee drinkers

others just explain why there was no shift to existing customer base

What is the trouble that you are facing? One way to work around is to label the statements in the argument, so you identify what is conclusion, premise, counter premise, or something else. then label each one of these C, P, CP, C then any option that does not have the relevant statement you eliminate this will help you get to two options or three sometimes. From there you can read each one correctly. end of the day nothing beats precision in reading, good luck
