Hello everyone,
I am in need of some dire help. I have only recently decided to apply outside India for my MBA, hoping to write my GMAT in December and have started working on my SOP, resume and also shortlisted the people I can hope to get a recommendation from. I understand it's pretty late and most schools have already closed their round 1. I am open to any place outside at the moment, as long as it is a good B-school which will help me pave a path for my future. I do not feel I have enough time to get into detailed research here, so requesting for help from someone who already has this sorted. I am sharing a brief of my profile below and my aspirations, will be very grateful if I can get someone to guide me through this process and successfully get into a good B-school by 2021.
Name - Garima Garg
Age - 27
Qualification - BTech in Civil Engineering (2012-16) - 83% (among the top performers in college, several internships, certificates of extra curricular and participation across different fields); 10th - 94%, 12th - 83%
Work Experience -
1. Campus placement - 1.5 years in core field as a Graduate Engineer Trainee - promoted to a QS- Engineer, have worked directly under the QS Head (30years of experience - at present AVP - Taj Construction) - for a 125 acres project.
2. Entrepreneurial experience - Started a food joint with 2 partners towards end of college - 1 year - was the key person managing finance and marketing
3. Manager - Family business - exposed to the end-to-end management of a company - Earth moving motor parts - Major client - Army
4. A short stint at a early stage start-up as a City Head. The startup couldn't take off because of not getting investment.
5. Senior Community Manager at a Coworking Space - networking with over 15 CXOs on a regular basis, event management, operations, process management, offline and online Marketing, etc. Exposure to multiple different departments, co-ordination, etc.
Obviously, this is just a gist of my profile, to give you an idea, I can explain and portray it better as required. I would be interested in pursuing a General Management or Entrepreneurial specialisation, which helps me network with the right people and build strategies for the next venture I take up. I would be interested in investing my time and money only in a top institute and would be glad if somebody can guide me ahead. Money is a constraint, but again if I can apply for a scholarship or get a job alongside to manage my expenses, I would be open to it. I am looking forward to investing all my time and energy for the next few months to get into a good school to turn around my life. I need to do it for myself and my parents, and I hope one of you would be willing to help!
