DidItForTheKudos hi,
Shimri from ARINGO here (head of the ARINGO strategy and an LBS alumnus)

it sounds like you are young but in the right direction,
on the downside - your GPA is mediocre (luckily, this is not one of the key factors for admissions) I would also like to see more community activities and at least one "interesting hobby"

On the good side - your work experience can be excellent - you are working in consulting, and hopefully, in the past two years, and in the next two years you will
a. get promoted
b. have some international experience working with international clients and or teams
c. have some managerial experience leading projects
d. have some well-known clients/project achievements

GMAT? the higher the better! but 690 puts you in the game for LBS and any other school (but 720 would be better :) )

Hope all this helps?
(I am always on shimriw@ARINGO.com) so let's talk in two years : )

anujaggarwal hi,
Thanks for sharing your profile
Shimri from ARINGO here
    1. you do not need a TOEFL for LBS - so don't waste your time with this...

    2. You have a fantastic work profile - two amazing T1 global brands!!! but as you have 12+ years of full-time work experience, you are on the borderline of the full-time MBAs and leaning more to the senior programs. luckily, LBS has a fantastic program called Sloan (Although it is called: Masters in Leadership and Strategy it is like a 1Y MBA). it is amazing and we worked this year with 6 LBS Sloan candidates (5 got in, the 6th has his interview next week :) )
you can see the full list of senior 1-year programs here: https://www.aringo.com/mba-over-30/

    3. GMAT - great! (less important for the senior programs, but shows you are very academic and analytical!)

    4. Awards - very impressive

    5. two direct manager recomenders - fantastic

    6. extra-curricular - I hope you have a few interesting things beyond work and education :)

All in all - you can get into the LBS full time, but I am worried LBS will think (rightfully so) you should go for the Sloan program. so read more about it?
(and then let's be in touch over email/phone... I am always on shimriw@ARINGO.com)

GOOD LUCK!

Hi troubletrouble,

Yours is a great profile. Your GPA is great plus you have earned a professional certificated of Chartered Accountant. So, academically I don't see 690 GMAT a huge roadblock in your chances to LBS. But as you said, you are targeting scholarships and in that case, I think you should be retaking GMAT. Your work ex seems good with elements of international experiences, it counts better if you may show how these experiences have helped you professionally. Also, I can see leadership, not only in the workspace but in your ECs as well, the latter being impressive too. So, overall, you do have a shot at LBS if you are able to present a well-connected and interesting story. Also, I do not understand why you do you want to transition into tech when you have a huge experience in finance and audit? If you do have a relevant and substantiative reason for the same, go ahead with the plan, otherwise, I would say try find more relevant options :) You are welcome to hop on a call with us to brainstorm your career goals and chances with us.
Feel free to book a free session with us as per your convenience.

Cheers!

troubletrouble hi,

My name is Shimri Winters, I head the strategy here at ARINGO.
I'm a London Business School MBA alumnus and used to interview (for 8 years) MBA candidates for LBS's admissions.

You have a great profile:
    - Being Russian - relatively to the size of Russia, there aren't that many Russian candidates which is a good thing for you (I have worked with several Russian candidates and so far with 100% success, so don't ruin my stats :))

    - Work experience is pretty standard (sorry) but good!. As the schools receive many Big 4 candidates, you need to find the unique angles (Audit is "boring" what else have you done? Working with FTSE 100 known brands - very good, and you should mention the names in the CV and essays and maybe even bring one of them as your recommender?. UK Chartered accountant - fantastic

    - Academics - GPA is good. GMAT is good!

    - Your managerial experience sounds amazing

    - Your international experience (LA, New Zealand, and working with multi-national teams) is unique - so well done!

    - Extracurriculars activities - wow and wow again :) you don't like sitting at home and watching Netflix. Volunteering and some hobbies are so important! in fact, when I used to interview candidates for LBS, the one thing I used to look for is: would I like this person in my class" and your activities Definity show me, what an interesting person you are!

    - GMAT - well this is up to you! BUT, with a good app (we can help with that) you can get into LBS with the 690! and a 710 won;t make much difference (a higher GMAT will :) ). A higher GMAT will help for scholarships, but LBS are pretty mean with scholarships anyhow in comparison to some US schools. There is a unique scholarship for Russian applicants, the Blavatnik Scholarship, and some other scholarships too.

Feel free to send me your CV, other schools you are considering, criteria for selection (top brand vs. high scholarship) and any other info to shimriw@ARINGO.com and we can set up a today to discuss your chances further

GOOD LUCK!

Hi Zwachtl
Great to meet you! Shimri from ARINGO here (and LBS alumnus...)
You have one of the strongest profiles I have seen (well, for a male engineer :) )
    - Academics - amazing + the Spanish experience can differentiate you from others
    - Fantastic GMAT
    - Great work experience - the construction management role can be a good indicator for people management and project management skills. Opening the office in NYC, and doubling the staff, revenues etc. sounds like a very interesting experience with many "Stories" (successes, failures etc.)
    - Extra-curricular - don't underestimate your college volunteering - this can show the school what kind of person you are. and add this to the org. you vice-chair in. wonderful!
    - Schools - HBS and Wharton - great fit, although, a stretch for any candidate in the world :) but you have a chance if you emphasize your leadership, international, and personality strengths and be clear about your career goals and why their schools. IESE and LBS - chances are very high in both (if you write great apps!)
    - Not sure about the career goals -I actually have some other ideas on this, but we can discuss them further over the phone if you want!

So, all in all. I am very optimistic for you. happy to discuss further. as always, I am on shimriw@ARINGO.com
GOOD LUCK!

Hi Zwachtl,

Your overall profile seems good. From what I can see-

Academics- excellent, an undergrad from great institution

Work experience: Pretty decent, can see elements of impact in your role as a structural engineer. I hope you may find more interesting stories in your 8 years of experience (don't worry, we can help with that through our extensive questionnaire).

ECs: Amazing! Quite a leader you exhibit through your ECs

International Experience: Again Amazing. You seem to have experiences of many different worlds :) You should definitely highlight this in your application by presenting a narrative of how these helped you professionally (and personally). If you like, you may get an extensive insight into what truly is International experience and how you should present it.

So, overall, you seem to have good shot at your target schools, just need more soul-searching to present a differentiating story. You are welcome to hop on a call with us to brainstorm your chances with us.
Feel free to book a free session with us as per your convenience.

Hi Srishti
Thanks for sharing your profile and MBA aspirations
My name is Shimri Winters, I head the strategy here at ARINGO

I am excited about your profile ?
Academics – great undergraduate university, great course, a great result (2nd in class.) NICE!

GMAT – 720 is above the LBS average. Which other schools are you applying to? but with your profile, a good score!

Work Experience –This is your biggest strength.
      - 2 nice internships / short work experience
      - and then KPMG for a year
      - Oyo is great – and working out of the NY office is even greater. A shame it was a year, and you should address this in your essays
      - and now EY-Parthenon – with a fast track promotion and team management experience – terrific!

Extracurricular activities – nice hobbies, and good volunteering, all we need to do now is choose what to include. a good problem…

Your career goals are very very generic. I get many candidates coming with this “I want to work at MBB”. Why do you need an MBA to move to another consulting firm when you are doing consulting today? I would address this and choose a very specific industry or area you have experience in and want to work in, in the future.

All in all sounds like you have a solid profile! and with a strong application, you might just pull it off and get into your dream school!

Happy to help further with a detailed review and perhaps work together on some amazing apps if you send me your CV and any other info to Shimriw@ARINGO.com

GOOD LUCK!

Hi TravellingGunner

Thanks for sharing your profile and MBA aspirations
My name is Shimri Winters, I head the strategy here at ARINGO

You have a very interesting profile! From what I can see:
Academics – great undergraduate and GPA. And 2 Masters? WOW! Very good

GMAT - Well, 730 is a good score – still on average for the top US schools, but above average from LBS and HEC

School wish list – I like your list! Very realistic with Tepper and Foster as Reach and the others are safer! you are a bit hard on yourself with the chances… with a good application you can get into a couple of the schools on your list (yes, with the 660!)

Extracurricular activities – I love both your hobbies and very happy to see you have some hobbies too?

Work Experience –so, this is your biggest advantage and disadvantage. You have a very different experience (different is usually good!). You need to show your career in a super simple. Are you an entrepreneur? Employee? How many companies did you work for in the last 8 years? More than 3-4 that might sound like an issue. (I need to see your CV to understand if this is your biggest strength or weakness!)

Your career goals - I am not sure the goals are related and correlated to what you have done so far. But again, once I see your CV, I will be able to see if the career goals make sense.
Your career goals should continue in the direction you have taken so far (entrepreneurship, product management etc.). And long-term entrepreneurship (again, insurance.)

All in all sounds like you have a solid profile! Especially for LBS and HEC. HBS, MIT and GSB are obviously harder to get into, for any candidate. But, with a unique application, you are in the game for those too!

Happy to help further with a detailed review and perhaps work together on some amazing apps if you send me your CV and any other info to Shimriw@ARINGO.com

GOOD LUCK!

KapilJohn hi
Shimri from ARINGO here (and LBS alumnus)
hard to give you an honest opinion based on the very little info you shared
but from what I can see
1. Academics - "Indian Engineering undergrad with average GPA" is not too good...
2. Consulting - sounds great! need to hear more about this (managerial experience? international experience? promotions? famous clients?)
not so sure about your math - you said you want to study in 2022 => you will need to apply next year => you will have 3 years of experience when applying.
3. Extra-Curricular activities - fantastic during college! (you sound like a fun guy!) do you have any hobbies these days?
4. Volunteering?
5. Anything else "different" in your profile? family background?
6. GMAT?

All in all, you have potential, but a lot is riding on the above unknowns, your GMAT score, and the strength of your apps.
I suggest you only focus on the GMAT right now... 720 is a big difference from 680... even if you take it 5 times, you have time.
Happy to discuss further and give you a deeper chances estimation, help you with the school selection etc. (probably around May 2021, 4 months before R1 applications are due) and after your complete your GMAT... As always I am on shimriw@ARINGO.com and would love to hear how you did on your GMAT and see your CV.

GOOD LUCK!
Shimri
