Liam's age is 5 years more than twice Gita's age. Zoe's age is 13 years less than 10 times Gita's age. If Zoe is 3 times as old as Liam, how old is Liam?

Answer:

L = 2G + 5

Z = 10G - 13

Z = 3L

3L = 10G - 13

3 (2G + 5) = 10G - 13

6G + 15 = 10G - 13

4G = 28

G = 7

L = 2G + 5

L = 2 * 7 + 5

L = 14 + 5

L = 19 Years

Liam's age is 5 years more than twice Gita's age. Zoe's age is 13 years less than 10 times Gita's age. If Zoe is 3 times as old as Liam, how old is Liam?

Answer:

Let the ages of Liam, Gita and Zoe be L,G and Z respectively

Now,
\(L=2G+5\) => \(G=\frac{(L-5)}{2}\)(i)
\(Z=10G-13\)...(ii)
\(Z=3L\)...(iii)

Substituting the values Z and G in terms of L in equation (ii), we get
\(3L=10\frac{(L-5)}{2}-13\)
\(3L=5(L-5)-13\)
\(3L=5L-25-13=5L-38\)
\(2L=38\)
\(L=19\)

Liam's age is 5 years more than twice Gita's age. Zoe's age is 13 years less than 10 times Gita's age. If Zoe is 3 times as old as Liam, how old is Liam?

Answer:

Let Liam's age be \(= L\)

Gita's age be \(= G\)

Zoe's age be \(= Z\)

\(L = 2G + 5\) ----------- (i)

\(Z = 10G - 13\) --------- (ii)

\(Z = 3L\) ----------------- (iii)

Equating (iii) and (ii), we get;

\(3L = 10G - 13\)

Substituting value of \(L\) from (i), we get;

\(3 (2G + 5) = 10G - 13\)

\(6G + 15 = 10G - 13\)

\(10G - 6G = 15 + 13\)

\(4G = 28\)

\(G = 7\) . Therefore Gita's age is \(7\) years.

Liam's age \(= 2G + 5 = 2 (7) + 5 = 14 + 5 = 19\) years...

Liam's age is 5 years more than twice Gita's age. Zoe's age is 13 years less than 10 times Gita's age. If Zoe is 3 times as old as Liam, how old is Liam?

Answer:

We can let L = Liam’s current age, G = Gita’s current age, and Z = Zoe’s current age.

Since Liam's age is 5 years more than twice Gita's age:

L = 5 + 2G

Since Zoe's age is 13 years less than 10 times Gita's age:

Z = 10G - 13

Since Zoe is 3 times as old as Liam:

Z = 3L

Since Z = 3L, we can substitute 3L for Z in the equation Z = 10G - 13:

3L = 10G - 13

Since L = 5 + 2G, we can substitute 5 + 2G for L in the equation 3L = 10G - 13:

3(5 + 2G) = 10G - 13

15 + 6G = 10G - 13

28 = 4G

7 = G

Thus, L = 5 + 2(7) = 5 + 14 = 19.

Answer:

Bunuel - Can we add options to this question? Just to ensure we are making the questions to GMAT type and we will be able to use Timer as well.
