Many companies require that every employee be reviewed by his or her superior twice per year.

(A) require that every employee be reviewed by his or her superior
(B) require that every employee to be reviewed by his or her superior
(C) require that every employee will be reviewed by his or her superior
(D) have a requirement for an employee review
(E) have a requirement to review every employee

X require that Y be Z - Correct Idiomatic Usage and Subjunctive form...

Will go with (A) Straight..

Working throught the POE
Option D and Option E have changed the structure of the sentence and also changes the intended meaning by removing the supervisor phrase entirely so eliminate D and E,we are left with AB and C. A seems correct and we leave it for now.I Choice A nd B the difference is to be and be,using to be is excessive so wecan choose A out of them both on the basis of precision and in choice C the usage of will be is incorrect since we use the require in which does not matches with the future perfect.so we are left with A which is the correct choice

OFFICIAL EXPLANATION:

This problem involves the Subjunctive Mood as well as some illogical meaning. Choices D and E are illogical, as “many companies” would not share “a requirement”. Then between A, B, and C, you should note that choice B violates Sentence Construction rules – using “that” and “to be” together is redundant. And choice C also has meaning issues related to verb tense – the requirement isn’t just for the future, as the companies currently require it. The more-universal “require that every employee b e reviewed” is correct, making A the correct answer.

In such questions using bossy verbs such as require , propose .... etc

The construction of the sentence should be of the form X requires that y.....be.....

A satisfies the structure & hence A is the correct answer

(A) require that every employee be reviewed by his or her superior
(B) require that every employee to be reviewed by his or her superior
(C) require that every employee will be reviewed by his or her superior
(D) have a requirement for an employee review
(E) have a requirement to review every employee

Many companies require that every employee be reviewed by his or her superior twice per year.

(A) require that every employee be reviewed by his or her superior -> Subjunctive mood indicated by "'require", it should be followed by "that" and "be reviewed". It is a correct form. Let's keep it.
(B) require that every employee to be reviewed by his or her superior -> we don't need "to" in subjunctive mood.
(C) require that every employee will be reviewed by his or her superior -> Incorrect form of subjunctive mood.
(D) have a requirement for an employee review -> Meaning changed.
(E) have a requirement to review every employee -> Meaning changed.

So, I think A. :)
