Hi iamnobug,
While it's understandable that you would want to take advantage of all of this potential study time, you have to be careful that you're not substituting "quantity of study" with "quality of study." You could work on thousands of practice questions, but if you're not honing specific skills and learning to think strategically about the GMAT, then you could very easily end up 'wasting' lots of practice material (and your time). Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:
Really appreciate your interest and help Rich! I've answered your questions below.
Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
Currently taking the weekly
manhattan prep gmat class. Have completed 5 out of 9 of the classes, completing all the "homework" between classes (excluding IR/AWA for now)
2) What materials have you used? Just the books I got from
Manhattan prep. I've only completed the assigned homework, not necessarily completing all the books. I did purchase the additional advanced quant book I plan to read once I complete the course.
3) How have you scored on each of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?
I've only taken 1 quant after the first class (so basically before any studying). I scored: Q43/V34 for a 640. I was pretty good at math in college but it has been 5 years so I think there is definitely room for improvement as I learn how to do math again
. On the verbal front, verbal has always been my weakness, but I'm hoping hard studying on verbal will help me meaningfully (hence looking for ways to also study during commute, or when work is quiet, etc).
Goals:
4) What is your goal score? 750+
5) When are you planning to take the GMAT? Either mid December (after finishing
manhattan prep class) or however much time after that I want to keep studying
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School? Fall 2017 for 2018 (small chance I will apply Spring 2017 for Fall 2017 to 1 or 2 schools)
7) What Schools are you planning to apply to? The top schools and down: GSB/HBS/Wharton
In the meantime, I have purchased the gmatclub app and started doing a few SC on today's commute. One of my problems with studying has also been I find the math fun but struggle to "enjoy" the verbal.
