Admitted off the waitlist. During the time off, I visited campus in February, received student and alumni recommendations, and sent a course completion and job responsibility note a few weeks back. The X-factor for me was the alumni recommendations. Since I have run the UT alumni base in New York for the last few years, I have worked closely and built solid connections with several McCombs alumni.

I'm still leaning towards Jones over UT right now due to the excessive financial aid, better fit, and proximity to home (sick family member). UT's new building is the main reason why I am even considering McCombs to be honest.

Congrats! Btw, were you admitted today? By phone or mail?

Admitted today. Phone. No scholarship. Thanks!

Also, Jones's deposit is due on April 1st so I'll likely update my status further by then.

Congrats and best of luck with the decision!

Has anyone who was waitlisted with an interview in R2 received and email or anything from McCombs? At all? I see these emails people keep posting from R1 about "sit tight... can send updated scores and job info but otherwise we will reach out... etc" but I haven't received anything so just curious...

Thanks!

Hi,

I got an email yesterday. Nothing exciting at all; sounded pretty automatic actually.
"You can hear from us at anytime from now to late june and bla bla bla..."
McCombs WL is tough, it really is... I haven't seen anyone hearing from them unless those who did something "spectacular" directly related to UT.

Don't hold your breath. The mccombs adcoms have been the worst out of any that I've dealt with.

Haha...I don't know what to say but I've been hearing that very often from multiple applicants. They should really improvise their WL procedure. The international tend to suffer the most. I guess I won't be able to hold my breath for too long...have been WL for two consecutive years.

I hope it works out for you. I agree it is unfair for international students that need to secure visas and have a harder time securing funding. Personally, I had Mccombs as my first choice going into the application process. After dealing with the adcoms on several occasions, my opinion definitely changed. Good luck!

I was just wondering how much both the aspects are co-related.

An applicant's experience with adcoms vs his actual MBA experience.

Is the reverse also faced by somebody in the past ? An awesome experience interacting with the adcoms but not-so-much while attending that MBA program for 2 years.

I highly doubt that they are related. However, they will each put a sour taste in your mouth. My experience was so off putting that it completely dissuaded me from wanting to attend.

Thats really a good news!! Did you send any updates while you waited for the call? Also, would you mind sharing your brief profile?
That may help soothe nerves for someone like me :)

Received the following email yesterday:

Thank you for your continued interest in the Texas MBA Program. We appreciate your patience throughout the waitlist process.

This has been quite an admissions season for those interested in the Texas MBA program. While we are still in the process of building our Class of 2018, we thought we would share an update on where we are in the process. It is possible for you to hear from the Admissions Committee at any time. Waitlist decisions can be released as late as mid-to-late June and into the summer months. Due to the uncertain nature of the waitlist, your continued patience in the coming weeks is greatly appreciated.

What can you do in the meantime? While you wait for a final decision, a few things you can do are:

1) Send us updated information (i.e. a new GMAT or GRE score, a promotion at work or a new job, etc.)
2) Listen in on our recorded webinars
3) Sign-up for our newsletter
4) Check out our blog entry for more information on the waitlist process

If you no longer wish to remain on our waitlist, please email MBAWaitlist@mccombs.utexas.edu informing us of your intention.
