Turning down Georgetown's offer. Was the only program that didn't offer me any $ - which is hard to swallow as I want to work in non-profit.
Had a nice time meeting some people at admit weekend and wish you all the best. Especially hope this frees up a spot for a deserving WL'er.
Good luck!
@christinemmx86 care to share your thoughts on the program/admit weekend? Georgetown is my only offer as of now (still waiting on USC), so I didn't feel that attending the admit weekend was neccessary since I'm not in a posistion to compare programs.
Sure! I attended admit weekends for both schools and a few others. Found the programming was pretty similar everywhere. What drew me to USC was fit. I was taken aback by the camaraderie and the investment of their administration. People seemed very happy all around. The admits were also very impressive in how they presented themselves and how they interacted especially in academic contexts during a simulated case study.
That said I did like Georgetown as well but wasn't necessarily blown away. I'd say hands down the building is the best of any program I was admitted to and the admissions team was very welcoming. What I struggled with was the especially large price tag (the only school that didn't offer me money) and some of the placement issues I heard form second years (they had great offers but few had their top choice geographically). I also got the sense that GT was many students backups - which while a good one is different than a program where most students took it to be their top choice.
Very minute things - but if anything it's the non-important factors that nixed Georgetown from my consideration. Still I'd say if USC doesn't work out for you - my visit to campus made my decision to turn down their offer harder than I'd expected.
Good luck and feel free to message me if you'd like to talk more.
