aggt
Hi,
Could you please evaluate my profile for spring'23 / fall'23 mba full time programs. I am targeting only 1 year programs specifically in Europe (HEC/Oxford/Cambridge/IESE/Bocconi) as the average class age is closer to mine.
Indian Female, 33
CGPA - 8.7/10
GMAT - 710 (Quant 48, Verbal 38, IR 5 AWA 5)
Work Experience -
Nearly 11 years of work experience with 5 years in India and the rest in London, UK (onsite at client location). Worked in a diverse environment with people from different nationalities. I am currently working as a Business Analyst for a client that is a subsidiary of a fortune 500 company. I have managed multiple projects simultaneously and interacted with even clients of my client for product requirements. I have received 3 promotions during my time, received accolades for my performance from both my company and my client and have contributed to my company's initiatives such as mentoring freshers and external code audits. In my 11 years, I have worked in different roles - developer, team lead, business analyst and product owner (for a short while).
Volunteering -
Co-founded an NGO back in 2011 in India. We unfortunately had to close it down in 2015.
Hi
aggt , the odds are in your favor given your smart selection of target B Schools in Europe.
My advice to you is to develop a strong narrative showcasing your career progression as a result of your hard work and perseverance. 11 years is a long time to be working in a professional set up and therefore present a variety of examples to highlight aspects of your profile such as leadership, empathy, diversity initiatives, team spirit and so on.
Leverage anecdotes from your professional life to demonstrate your leadership skills. Show that you motivated teams to expedite projects and deliver desired results, resolved conflicts with strong persuasive skills, influenced senior management's decisions with your keen observations and insights and generated value for your team and company as a whole. Show bias for action and conscientious decision making capabilities.
You have a good GMAT score and decent academics. Do not miss an opportunity to highlight any academic rewards, achievements and recognitions you may have received in the past. Talk about what "education" means to you or to others in your family to show a deep rooted value system.
Share stories to show your adaptability towards other cultures and that you made effort to understand their perspective during various situations that occurred at work.
As someone who has worked in multiple countries, you could show a unique perspective on things you have experienced in your personal and professional life. Your active community-involvement and charity initiatives could become really good conversation starters to show your passion, enthusiasm and a well-rounded profile.
Ideate on your short term and long term goals so that they align with your career trajectory so far, as well as present you as someone with a larger vision in life.
