Hello gmat7m,

Sounds like a genuine problem. As you said you are looking for 50/51 score in Qunat, in that case trust me OG will not be sufficient, you will have to practice some advanced level questions and for that I would recommend you to go with the GMATClub tests. The difficulty level is high but sets a stage for GMAT Quant. Also, these tests are cheap.

In case you feel GMAT Club tests are costly, start following Bunuel and try to answer the questions with higher difficulty and you should be good. Alternatively, you can attempt difficult level questions on GMAT Club.

760 in Moc is indeed a great score, wish you all the luck. Hope this post helps. :-D

Thanks ydmuley, my gut is also with GMATClub tests and I will go ahead and purchase. Just deciding between 3m / 6m but that is a simpler question to answer.

Do you know of any places to LEARN concepts? I am looking at Permutation/Combination/Probability and Coordinate Geometry.

Great decision to purchase GMAT Club tests, I am sure it will help you. 3m or 6m depends on when are you going to attempt the exam. Anyways, that should not be a big problem for you to solve.

Coming to the next part of the question on resources, please refer below.

Permutation/Combination/Probability - Check out Perfectscore videos on youtube & Khan Academy for basics will help to.

Coordinate Geometry: By far the best and detailed on, credit goes to Bunuel https://gmatclub.com/forum/math-coordinate-geometry-87652.html

Hope this will help gmat7m

Hi gmat7m,

To start, a 710/Q48 is an outstanding score (it's right around the 90th percentile overall) - so it's questionable as to whether this was the reason why you were rejected by the Schools you applied to or not. GMAC has publicly stated that the Official Score that you earn on Test Day is within +/- 30 points of actual ability. By extension, your two Official Scores are essentially the same performance (even though there's a 1-2 year gap in those Exams). This means that you are consistent in how you 'see' the Exam - you do certain things consistently well, but you also make certain consistent mistakes. To score at a much higher level, you're going to have to make some notable changes to how you handle the Exam - otherwise you'll likely score at the same general level.

1) What Schools did you apply to and what were the results from each (were you wait-listed, interviewed or outright rejected?)?

Hello Rich - thank you for replying. Your posts are always helpful.

I was out-rightly rejected at the US schools (Cornell / Duke / Ross / Darden) and I was waitlisted at HKUST. While my Cornell / Duke applications were more fluff (late-realization), the other two despite being decent were in the more competitive R2. Why I am sure GMAT is a major reason is because Darden ad-com suggested a higher score in the official feedback call (now I am sure this is not a requirement but something the gatekeepers would like to see in my profile).

Also, since I have a 3 year business administration UG degree, I feel I should showcase my quant skills better than the q48, especially since the Indian-Male applicant pool is so competitive.

This is not to say I have not identified other weak factors in my applications - those are being fixed too!

Hi gmat7m,

Since the Q48 that you scored on this recent CAT is 'in line' with your scores on the Official GMAT, we should start by analyzing the questions that you got wrong on this CAT so that we can determine WHY you're getting questions wrong (and what you need to focus on to improve).

After reviewing the Quant section, how many questions did you get wrong....
1) Because of a silly/little mistake?
2) Because there was some math that you just could not remember how to do?
3) Because the question was too hard?
4) Because you were low on time and had to guess?
