I got a score of 720 just last week, and I had been consistently getting a score of 740 (2 GMAT Prep and 2 Economist GMAT tests, all in a row). So I feel confident I can get a 740, especially because in my last test one of my breaks was exceeded by 1 min 43 seconds. I was pretty bumped by the score, especially because I was consistently getting 740. So after taking a good break the last weekend, when I sat down today morning this thought occurred to me - why not give it another try this week.
Right now, I feel pretty good about giving it another try, because I don't feel any stress whatsoever. If I don't get a better score, I can stick to the one I have, and it is only a matter of $250. I want to know if there is any downside in doing this? If the score is better I will be sending the scores to my dream schools (MIT Sloan, Stanford, Wharton, and Chicago Booth) one more time in a span of a week. If I have a worse score, the plan is to simply cancel it, and at that point I believe I will still have the score of 720.
Please let me know if any of my assumptions are wrong.
Thanks!

Yeah, your analysis is sound. Though you should know that 720 and 740 are not very different in the eyes of the adcom. It may make sense for you to retake after some fine tuning so that you aim for 760+
I agree with jkolachi - ESR could add value, though at such high scores, it is less likely to tell you what you don't already know.
If you completed your GMAT exam recently, it may take up to 72 hours for your ESR to be available. Once you buy the code and are able to enter it on mba.com, you should be able to access it.
