The idiom is "attempt to", so only A and D remain. A is wrong becuase of it, so D is the best option.

"attempt to" is the correct idiom.
between D & A,

A - "it" pronoun error

Tough one. I went with D.

I didn't even see the "attempt to" idiom :cry:
