Hi Everyone,

I am planning to complete my video essay this weekend and i have one doubt. What is the available time to think and complete each answer? Thank you!

SSapplicant You have 20 seconds to prepare for the first and third question, then 1 minute to answer. For the second question you have 30 seconds to prepare and 90 seconds to answer. They provide a video with these details at the beginning and offer an opportunity to practice multiple times.

Good luck!

Hi KE139,
Does each applicant get a different set of questions?

Relentless2010 My understanding is that everyone gets a random combination of three questions. I'm sure there are only x number of each question type though.

I just took the video interview and... I failed miserably. I practiced so much for it but when it came to the real thing, I just froze up and kept spewing words. I'm so disappointed in myself.

Don't worry, I don't think there video interview is weighted that much. When I did mine I literally repeated the last line I said verbatim. I thought I bombed my chances too.

Thanks, I needed to hear that. They probably realize a lot of people are not used to just speaking directly to a camera so they might be more forgiving on it and still give an in person interview a shot.

Breathe. It's over now.

There are a lot of accounts here since 2013 about people felt they didn't do well on the video interview and still got an interview invite. I doubt the video (nor any 1 part of your app) is a make-or-break deciding factor. Instead, I assume and have it on good accord that adcom looks at your app as an entire package. Each part of your app gives them a little more insight into who you are, what makes you you, and how you'll fit into the greater class. This video is just one of those factors.

Go take a walk. Try not to beat yourself up about it. Think about the great parts you were able to show adcom and focus on that. There's a ton of time in the admissions process; try not to stress over things you can't change now.

You are not alone mate. I also didn't do so well on the video essay.
From what I've heard, bad video essay won't hurt your chance so much.
Bruce Delmonico mentioned this briefly in an interview a few years ago. You can listen to it if you like.
Hope this helps.

Any clues on when the Round 2 interview invites go out?

I think we can hear from them at any time. Last year the round 2 deadline was on 01/07, and we had 4 interview invites reported on clear admit on 01/13, just 6 days after the deadline.

Anyone knows if in the last year the video question deadline was also one week after the official deadline as it was this year?

Cool Thanks for the info man.

No clue about your question - maybe better souls can enlighten us?

The app deadline vs video deadline is about the same as last year's timeline. No major changes.

Thanks mate!

Also, why'd you pick Yale over Ross? :)

Did not post earlier because I didn't want to demoralize anyone, but I think I also failed miserably. You're not alone :)
