It's unlikely that you'll find examples or resources that truly make Fuqua different from any other school that these interviewers have not already heard. Therefore, the key strategy is to find ways to tie those Fuqua examples, resources, experiences, etc. to you, your career goals, your desired MBA experience, etc. Try to avoid common/generic things like, Team Fuqua or Durham. Go a level or two deeper in your research.

Make sure you have at least 3 clear points. If you can show how you will benefit from the Fuqua experience and how your classmates will benefit from your presence there, you should really be able to nail this question.

It's okay if this is answer is somewhat prepared and rehearsed. It's a given this question is coming your way so why not show to your interviewer that you were ready for it.

Hi folks,

I have my interview in a couple of days. I was curious to know what you think about "Why Fuqua and not any other school"? Does anyone have any insights on this? Thanks in advance.
Well why do you want to go to Fuqua?

Hi,

I had my interview yesterday with a 2006 alumnus. It was okay but I was surprised by one specific question. He asked me if I had 60 sec to convince Ad Coms to enroll me to Fuqua, what would be my elevator pitch?

All questions were similar to the ones posted in interview debriefs but I was taken aback by this question. I think I blabbered a bad answer. Can one or two bad answers during an Alumni interview spoil my chances for an admit????

Can some one tell me when the AMBA program starts?

Is it a good time to apply now?

Bitss, no doesn’t seem likely. Its the overall feel of the interview that matters. More importantly, were you able to recover from those 1-2 bad answers later on? I really think its the impression that you part with that stays on- because they’ll fill their feedback immediately after based on that

I believe it is nothing to do with 1-2 bad answers but the intent behind the question. Elevator pitch is a tough one and anyone can fumble so don’t worry about it. That alone will not decide your enrollment.

Do not worry for several reasons:

(1) You don't know your interviewer felt the answers were as bad as you thought they were. It's a subjective evaluation.

(2) The interviewer may not even mention those points in their write-up. They are only asked for high-level feedback with some examples to support them. It's possible these responses don't even see the light of day.

(3) Interviews don't count nearly as much in this process. as candidates think they do. They are one component and a somewhat minor at best.

(4) You can't do much about it now anyways, so try to ease your nerves and focus on other matters related to this process or beyond.

Good luck,

I bungled a question about "how will you add diversity to the class" (kinda hard Q when you’re a white male from NYC). really meandering borderline incoherent response

i got in with 40k. i don’t think they hold one off moment against you too much

I’d apply if I were in your situation. R3+intl shouldn’t stop you from applying unless schools explicitly mention on their website. Potential downsides include limited scholarships and better school next yr (if you are expecting promotions or a change of role therefore expanding your skillset or more/better leadership opportunities). Upsides - you get one extra year on your post MBA career!

Agree with the previous post - it's going to be an uphill battle even with your profile.

If I were you, I would wait until R1 of the next season. You will be very viable. Unless there is a specific reason to go this year, you're way better off holding off. I don't think your age will be a negative factor.

Have you already written your essays? I can't say they won't change next year but they have been somewhat consistent year over year.

Yes , i have finalized my essays and will be applying.

I understand its not advisable but i can't wait one more year.

Will try my best to showcase my case .
Had a conversation with admission team over a webinar and they told me to apply 😅

Bt still the chances are slim...i understand bt they encouraged that i do apply

So will take the chance

Hi ,
Hi @shaunak075, The Fuqua website says that international applicants should apply before R3 so you may be out of luck on this. However, it is not so far from being ready to submit in the first group for 2022-- Early Action-- and then you have the best chance to receive funding consideration and also is the best round to apply if you know you want Fuqua. You could always check in directly with Fuqua adcom but I would not apply R3 unless you clear it with Fuqua directly since they discourage this on their website. Best wishes to you! And you look to have an outstanding profile so I have no doubt you will find a great MBA program and I would encourage you at this point to look to be early for R1 2022 rather than late for the 2021 party....

Thanks for the response.
"I am happy to answer some of your questions via email.

1. Yes, applicants from India are still eligible to apply in Round 3.Every year we do admit international applicants in Round 3.
2. Yes, it is still possible to complete the visa process. Our team working closely with applicants to guide them. The key with Round 3 if you are admitted, is you will need to deposit quickly so you can start the visa process. The visa process cannot be started without a deposit.
3. We do not have quotes for any population."
Response(above ) i got from adcom...will try my best..as i am anyways gonna join one of the school this year
