It definitely doesn't take you out of running, but it likely is a large plus on your application as it shows dedication to getting into Tuck.

Does anyone know if you're able to update your resume after signing up for the applicant initiated interview? I'm hoping to lock down a date before slots fill up but I want to spend this week tweaking my resume beforehand...

Same here, i submitted my crappy resume. But good thing is you have to take hardcopy for interview as students wont have access to it. I am planning on updating it before that and taking that with me. If not ill just email admissions and tell them

Curious to hear how this went for you

I think you should try for the applicant-initiated interview if you can, definitely shows seriousness. I scheduled mine at the end of a business trip in the US, landed in Boston at 7:30 PM and drove to a hotel near Hanover by 10 PM for an interview the next day.

Regarding the resume/CV, I replaced my resume on the Tuck system a few days before the interview and took hard copies as well. My interviewer actually had my updated copy with her, so you can say they stay on top of things generally. Now I replaced my resume again after the interview (one minor edit), which I am submitting with the rest of my application for R1.

Are you the same as the person above? Did you end up getting accepted to Tuck?

This thread, while a bit outdated, is still highly relevant and frequently asked by our clients. Granted, this year the pandemic has made this a non-issue, but this has been and will likely once again be extremely important to Tuck.

You should do whatever you can to initiate and schedule an interview. The school recognizes that while they are in a more remote, less convenient location, it is still a reasonable ask if you really want to go there. They offer many dates and times to pick from so you can plan these things in advance to help cut down on costs and/or manage work schedules.

Tuck, given its class size and location, is very big on students who demonstrate a genuine interest in being there. It is integral to the Tuck experience. If you are already showing signs of hesitation to make a single trip there - for whatever the reason - it may cast doubt as to whether you would accept the seat in their MBA class. There are very few excuses that they will see as convincing, particularly the two you mentioned: cost and vacation time. Sorry to be so blunt, but it's a competitive process!
