Since the regular price of each hollow pine door = 40 dollars, the regular price of each solid oak door is (2)(40) = 80 dollars.

With a 25% discount, each solid oak door is sold for 0.75(80) = 60 dollars.

So, the six oak doors cost 6 x 60 = 360 dollars, and the five pine doors cost 5 x 40 = 200 dollars. Thus, the total is 560 dollars.

Answer: C

Not a lot to say about this question; 5 pine doors, each of which costing $X;

6 oak doors, each of which costing twice, so $2X; but there's a discount, that's one.

Two, this is actually $40, so 2X is going to be $80.

Obviously, if we subtract 25% we need to know these common percents by heart, that's 1/4,

so if we subtract 1/4 of 80, we're left with 60, so $60 times 6 doors,

$40 times 5 and doors, that is a 200 plus a 360, the total cost is going to be 560,

and the correct answer is C.

Why is it not possible to do: 2-0.25 = 1.75 * 40? = 70
2 because it is double and then 25% is subtracted = 1.75

Given relation,O=2P. Therefore, O=80. Now, given a discount of 25% on O, new price of O=60. Therefore total price, O+P=(60x6)+(40x5)=560.

it's just a straight forward sum
pine door price =40
oak door price =80 with discount = 60

total price = 6*60+40*5
=>560 therefore IMO C

We can reject A, E easily

Pine = 40*5 = 200, so Oak is definitely greater than 200
Total = 200 + (greater than 200) = 400+ (reject A - 320)

For E, 680 = 200 + O*6
480 = O*6
O = 80 (not possible O<80))

Dear larai,
when you take off the discount, you either deduct discount from the whole: 40 - 40*1/4 = 30 or reduce this equation to 40*3/4 = 30.

In your case you subtracted not a Percent from the whole (2 - 2*1/4 = 1.5) but unknown fraction from the whole 2-1/4 = 1.75

(1) 5 identical Hollow Pine Doors
(2) If the regular price of each Hollow Pine Doors was $40 / door
From (1) and (2) = 5 * $40 = $200 ---- (b)

(3) 6 identical solid oak doors for the house she is building.
(4) The regular price of each Solid Oak Door was twice the regular price of each Hollow Pine Door.
From (3) and (4) = Solid Oak Door = 2 * Hallow Pine Door = 2 * 40 = $80

(5) Cheryl was given a discount of 25% off the regular price of each solid oak door.
From (5) = $80*(100% - 25%) = $80*75% =$60 / door-----(a)

What was the total price of all 11 doors -
From (a) and (b)
= 5*$40 + 6*$60

No. of pine door = 5, No. of oak door = 6
Price of each pine door $40
Price of each oak door $80 X \(\frac{3}{4}\) =$60 (75% of the price as 25% off given) (as price of solid oak door was twice price of hollow pine door )

Price of pine doors $40 X 5 = $200
Price of oak door $60 X 6 = $360


$360+ $200 = $560
Answer is Option C. $560
