Today I scored a 710 (Q48 V40) on my first attempt at the GMAT. Looking to get into a top 10 school (applying fall 2021) and figure that given my demographic, I should shoot for 740. Hoping I can get there in 1-2 more attempts.
My GMAT Official Practice tests have been 730 and 760, due to higher Verbal scores (Quant still hovering around 47-48). However, I think these scores could have been a touch inflated because I recognized a few of the questions. That being said, I'm very confident that I can do better in Verbal than I did today and I may be able to raise Quant to 49.
From what I've read, it makes sense to keep any score that isn't far off from your target score as AdComs like to see improvement and perseverance. But, the perfectionist in me wants to wipe this off my record.. If I ultimately score a 740, will this 710 (and any other attempts) weigh into their decision?
I imagine that I'm probably over thinking this. I guess my main question is if there is real merit in the "AdComs
prefer to see multiple attempts" argument.
