To find: Is x-y even?
Solution: Subtraction rules of Odd-Even:
Odd-Odd = even
Even-Even = Even
Odd- Even = Odd / Even - Odd = Odd
Multiplication rules of Odd-Even:
Odd*Odd = Odd
Even*Even = Even
Odd*Even = Even
(1) 5x−7y=even
so both X and Y are either odd or even
Case 1: X & Y = Odd
Odd-Odd = Even (Satisfying)
Case 2: X & Y = Even
Even-Even = Even (Satisfying)
(Sufficient)
(2) x(y)^2 is odd
Odd*Odd^Odd = Odd
Odd-Odd = Even
(Sufficient)
