Hello,
I've test scheduled next week. What should I expect at the test center? What are general do's and don'ts?
Is it mandatory to list all schools where I wish to send my scores? Is there any other information I need to fill in?
Are there any forms to be filled (on test day), bio metrics to be taken, any sort of documents that I need to submit, before I get to start the exam?
If someone could post step to step scenario of a typical test day, it would be quite helpful.
Scenario steps can be like :
9.30 enter test center ,
9.45 submit documents
10 - take bio metrics
.....
10.30 get 1st question....
This might be too much for few guys out there
, I just don't want to be surprised on the test day.
I gave my exam in Mumbai. My test slot was at 5 PM. I reached the center at 4. There were people from the 5 PM slot, who had already started writing their paper. I was the second last candidate to write the exam & I started at 4:15 PM.
The process preceding the GMAT is pretty straightforward. They take a bio-metric scan of your palm and I think thumbs too. (I forgot, was too nervous, at that point of time). If you need to take an optional break, you need to raise your hand in front of the camera, then someone from the exam center will escort you. You're not allowed to leave the seat otherwise. You're obviously not allowed to carry anything inside; a locker will be provided outside the exam zone to keep your belongings. I'd recommend you to keep a jacket along with you, just in case it gets too cold inside the test room.
One thing that I realized while actually writing the exam is that although the questions are adaptive, you might just encounter a surprise easy question in the middle. In my case, I ended up losing my mojo in verbal because of getting relatively easier questions. Since, you've a week left, I'd also recommend you to go through the type of questions you're not familiar with. I was too comfortable with
OG and Manhattan for SC; this hurt me really bad, because the unfamiliarity of the SC question types had its own effect on my confidence levels.
Also, you would not be required to submit any documents. Just carry your passport with you. That should be more than enough. The verification & other formalities will hardly take 10 minutes.
All the best for your test. Cheers!
