Tough decision, I have a windows PC that works ok but is ~8 years old. I'd much prefer a Mac if I get a new laptop at this point but Darden requires you to run parallels or an equivalent if you have a Mac and that seems like potentially a lot of effort. Curious what other people think but I will need some time to figure it out

I have a MAC and I run Windows using the Mac Bootcamp feature (it natively boots into Windows). It basically creates a dual-boot system which performs and runs at 100% of the hardware and does not require multiple things running in background. It is native Windows or native MacOS. It is pretty easy/simple. Just have to buy a WIN License or use your old one from a previous laptop. So this is not a concern besides the extra license cost for Windows.

It takes perhaps 15 seconds to reboot into Mac or Win as long as you can close and save the work fast enough ;-)

Interesting workaround bb :)

I was also contemplating getting a Macbook but was doubtful about the excel work and stuff. But from what Souvik mentioned and what you are suggesting, it looks like Mac might just work out. Though a big reason for me to love Mac is for MacOS, and I the Windows license would be extra bucks. :|

If I have to go for PC, I'm thinking of a Lenovo Thinkpad. I had a company-provided touchscreen model before my current Mac and it was a delight to use.

Thinkpad x390 yoga .... good choice ??

Posted from my mobile device

Lots of folks in my school bought this. For windows options, it is almost always either this or the Surface laptop/Surface books. The Surface Pro ends up being a tad too small for mainstream heavy use cases.

Having said that and from @variantguy's dilemma, the iPhone goes very well with the Macbook.

I am still curious about Macs. While I see many people using Macbooks in Ross, they are still a minority. The new Macbook pro has some seriously affordable pricing. I am adding a poll to this one to see the Mac vs Windows gang!

Yeah sure! A good new laptop with the latest technology and features is a must for business students as they require to work a lot on laptops like creating business models, presentations, research, etc... But, do you know what would be the best deal and time to buy a new laptop if there is no hurry? That's during black friday. Black friday laptop deals will save you a lot of bucks as most of the brands and retailers will be offering great deals. You can get one for business school during that time. Thanks.

I am actually looking for a laptop to buy. I am finally tired of my Mac and it’s intermittent issues with my setup and multiple screens on windows so I am selling it and getting something new....

While I am not planning to game on it, I have found gaming laptops to be the closest options for the performance I am looking for....

Anyone has any recommendations? I found a few interesting systems but the best combo seems a Dell G15 I think or Alienware R15.

PS. I will be selling my Retina 2018 Mac. Seems I can get close to $1k for it still.

It is! But if price is no object, check out the 2020 Dell XPS 15 9500. It looks stunning and performs well. Some QC issues though.

Thank you!!! It does look great but it reminds me of a MacBook... I think it is almost an exact copy based on keyboard. ?

I am frankly tired of having just USB c ports (4 of them on my MacBook Pro 13). Most of the time my laptop is hooked up to an external monitor....

PS. I have used Dell’s for a long time. I probably owned 3 Dells and my wife and kids have a dell now. I get a discount with Amex that’s worth about $400 off any discounted price on Dell.com but I still seem to like the Asus ROG G14... I don’t like that it has a power cable in the left middle side but I can just always turn it on my desk... I am waiting till next weekend to see if any deals pop up.
