As a working professional, verbal online is an excellent medium via which you can brush up your concepts on the go. Online course allows you to play/pause as per your convenience. The concepts are quite easy to comprehend and the course is specially designed for non-natives. Also, e-gmat team has prepared a comprehensive plan to tackle each section. SC and CR are extremely well designed with adequate no. of examples. Post every concept, there is a practice test which allows you to gauge your success level. While practicing mocks, I have seen significant improvement in both quality and time.

e-GMAT's Verbal Online course was best suited for me as it not only reinforced the fundamentals but also taught me a structured, almost mathematical approach to solving verbal questions. The content is quite thorough and is delivered by excellent faculty through a very user friendly interface. The application files and the practice files at the end of each topic are especially very helpful in clarifying the concepts learned. The strategies advocated for each section (SC, CR & RC) have definitely helped me enhance my approach to solving verbal questions under testing conditions and have also helped me improve my accuracy (especially in SC). I would highly recommend this course to anyone who wishes to ace the verbal section of the GMAT.

Excellent approach towards solving verbal problems

After getting an experience of 3+ years in a manufacturing sector right out of IIT Madras, I was hoping to get into some B schools to help me shape my career. The most logical step for me was GMAT. However, the first time, I tried it, I got a score of 650. This de-motivated me and I was not so sure, as to where I was going wrong. Several thoughts came to my mind, and I finally decided to join a course to analyse my mistakes.

After analyzing many courses, I signed up for E-Gmat, verbal live prep. The first few classes filled me up with excitement. I could clearly see that my approach towards solving problems earlier was severely flawed.

In just about a month's time, I was solving SC questions like a professional, I realized that this part of GMAT, which usually took me the longest, was something that was now actually saving time. CR and SC also improved drastically. More than anything, the fear of GMAT was completely gone. I enjoyed studying and felt more confident. I got a score of 710 (V37, Q49) in my second time and an admission in many good B schools such as ISB, Olin, Kelley and Ivey Richards. Had I focused more on quant I would have got a little more, but e-gmat was a savior and helped me get an extremely unexpected verbal score.

Course Work:
The live sessions are exhilarating, and the interactions with the instructor are life like. The energy felt during the course carries through out the week and helps in preparing better. Approach towards SC is path breaking. This dreaded part of GMAT is solved so easily through E-GMAT that at the end of the day, one feels that there is no reason to fear from it at all.

CR and RC also strengthened like never before. I felt very amazing, when I understood the basic reasons behind the questions in OG, when I listened to their explanations. It molded my thoughts and helped me in forming a fresh approach towards a problem.

There are also many questions in the e-gmat, which are designed specifically to enhance one's strengths in the areas, where we feel weak. The doubts are answered very nicely and the polls used in live prep is an extremely useful tool to evaluate one's progress among our peers.

During the course itself, seeing the questions asked by our peers, we can evaluate our understanding and be also aware that we are doing above average.

Software for Live Courses
I had earlier taken some online classes for various reasons. NPTEL was used in IIT earlier. But most of these online courses were a monologue and we could not express ourselves rightly , like that in a class. Here the feel was extremely different. I felt like sitting in a class, moreover, I was not un comfortable to ask questions. It was scheduled at a time, when I was always free and could give it full attention. I therefore attended all classes.

Response to emails:
I don't know how they do it, but they respond to all emails within 12 hours. It is amazing. I was extremely happy with their customer service and appreciate it a lot.

At last, I would say that e-gmat thought me how to think. It will take me beyond GMAT exam alone and would help me in general. I strongly recommend taking this course as it won't be just learning but will be 'fun' learning.

Good GMAT Prep Course!!

I started preparing for GMAT in September 2015 - OG + e-gmat SC course. I thought I was doing well with the preparations and was following official guide religiously. I was scoring decent on mocks as well. I scored 660 in the first mock and 690 in second mock. I revised and practiced with questions & practice exams from Veritas prep. I bought exam pack 2 and re-appeared for 2 Mocks. I scored 690 and 710. My aim was 710 which seemed close. I appeared for first attempt in April 2016 and ended up scoring 660(Q49/V33) :(. I was very disappointed and realized that I had messed up in verbal section really bad. That's when I realized that my weak section was not just SC but the approach I used to take to tackle Verbal problems. That is when I bought complete verbal online course from e-gmat and started preparing. E-gmat course helped me formulate the right approach for verbal section by focusing more on meaning and identifying the errors before looking at the answers. This helped me really well. In my second attempt I ended up scoring 760(Q50/V42).

I am very grateful to e-gmat team. They extended my course enrollment dates without any extra cost after my first attempt. The course material is also very well built and organized. Kudos and Thanks to entire e-gmat team!!

After I gave my GMAT for the first time, i realized i needed to buckle down and get a good score on verbal. I bought the e-GMAT verbal subscription and it has helped me a lot. In my latest mock test, i can see a difference of 10 points, which helps me in reaching my goal of cracking into 700! The videos are interactive and have a nice flow to them. The end of video quiz is a nice feature and helps you summarize the chapter.
I would recommend GMAT verbal course for everyone, specially for those whose first language is not english.

I gave my first GMAT attempt and scored 600(49, 24). I am a non-native. After this attempt, I was struggling to find the right course and after going through several reviews I opted for e-gmat Verbal online. The course is great and it provides a comprehensive and methodical way to approach and solve CR, SC and RC.
I really liked the SC and CR approach. To be honest, I didn't go through much of the RC section.
Prethinking in CR and meaning first in SC really help me to tackle GMAT questions.

Few msitakes that I made during my preparation while going through the course, may be it can be helpful for anyone who is opting for this course:

1. The application files and practical files, quizzes after each topic, should be treated as check points, for example if you score less than 75% in Parallelism, then you need more practice on this topic. Review the concepts again and apply them to Official Guide questions.

2. One of the gem of this course is scholaranium. very helpful tool to analyze and improve the score. I wish I had utilized this tool to its full potential. There were files in which I scored less and still moved on to the Scholaranium. I ignored the signs that could have given me a realistic estimate of where I stood in my preparation.

3. Do not ignore Skill Data section in scholaranium dashboard. You can fine tune your preparation to a very good degree

I ended up scoring 690(49,34). Though my overall score improved by 90 points and Verbal score by 10 points, the real challenge starts from this score :P
I feel that the course did a fair job.

I had registered for the course a few months ago but had little time to study due to work constraints. I finally found two weeks of freedom to concentrate and prepare properly for the GMAT. I found myself constantly in the V35 area. With little time left having covered Maths the first week, I went through an intense study prep by first watching the SC free webinar which was very useful for me in approaching each SC question and made me ponder further on the egmat verbal prep. I had always picked out answers based on what sounded right but failed to ignore the most important aspect - Meaning. e-Gmat course was the first among many to revise my strategy in this regard having taken gmat last year. The three step approach was critical in edging me towards the 90%+ accuracy. I quickly learnt a technique or strategy for attacking each type of question. The Reading comprehension package was great for dissecting any type of passage para-graph by para-graph looking our for transition verbs and breaking down jargons. I was more confident after going through the course

How I found e-gmat Verbal Live
As i researched for programs, I noticed that e-gmat had a lot of good reviews (especially worth the bucks) from mostly non-native English speakers. and it costs about 199 dolls for the English package. It is definitly worth it. If you want to get a feel before purchasing, please subscribe to the free webinar for SC, RC and CR to see for yourself. I am sure you would tread the same path :-). The live sessions especially on SC and critical reasoning was absolutely fantastic. Did pretty much all the work for me than all the 100+ page guide I had read much earlier before getting bogged down and taking a break

E-gmat enabled me to cover all basis. The live verbal sessions along with brilliant techniques to solve questions faster and with greater accuracy was core to what made me improve my score. It was highly interactive and the instructor cared about the audience progress. Its essential to master the strategies and follow them completely in order to score high on verbal.

The 3 step process worked wonders for me. The video format of the course is very effective, highly interactive and provides in depth knowledge of all the things you need to master SC. The course is organized and has a nice flow which helps you get the maximum learning out of it. I would strongly strongly recommend this to anyone. I have spread the word to friends and will continue to spread. Within a week of study for english, I was able to obtain a V39. If I decide to retake for a higher score, I would go in on only eGmat Verbal Live Prep for english, spend a bit more time too. Wish fellow e-Gmatters the best :-)

E-GMAT is an absolute boon to GMAT test takers

Dear Fellow GMAT Test takers,

I, Arun Kumar took GMAT on Sep 10th,2016 and scored 720. Let me explain the Pros and Cons of E-GMAT and how it helped me score a 720.

I am a non- native English speaker and took GMAT twice. In my first attempt, I scored 650 ( Q 46, V34) and in my second attempt scored 720 ( Q49, V 38). I can definitely say E-GMAT was pivotal in improving my score. In the very first mock test that I took, I scored 560. I remember scoring V 26 in that mock test.

This shattered my confidence of ever crossing the 700 barrier. I did not give up hope and started with MGMAT material. MGMAT material is the absolute best to refresh your Quant skills, but their SC book was too much for me to absorb and I was unable to apply the same during the test.

I use to go over the MGMAT SC book over and over again. Even though, I understood the concepts, I was unable to apply the same in timed GMAT mock tests. It just frustrated me and made me feel incompetent. I knew that I have hit a road block and had to figure out an alternative path.

I was planning on taking an In class training, but it was an expensive option and did not fit my work schedule. This is when I researched my options and found E-GMAT online live prep program.

The program, which is in video format, was easy to assimilate and is organized based on weight-age of topics too. I was amazed to see how I can understand the core concepts with ease and apply the same during my mocks.

If you are struggling with SC then E-GMAT will help you nail it for sure. SC is unique and many questions can be solved by pattern recognition. However, This takes time and effort. You do need a structured approach in which you understand the grammar rules and common error types. E-GMAT helps you achieve this. I would definitely recommend you take the ability quiz at the beginning of each section and practice on their quizzes as they help you not only identify your weak areas but also analyze what made you choose the wrong answer.

Once you understand these two aspects your mind can see a pattern. When you are taking the test you become like MATRIX-NEO and can see the traps ahead of you.

I am naturally good at CR, yet I used Aristotle CR guide to bolster my CR preparation. RC was the silent killer, which messed up my score greatly. I used E-GMAT RC videos and Chinese RC burn to bolster my process and practiced OG questions countless times to improve on speed and accuracy.

E-GMAT PROS:

1) Video based learning.
2) Prompt response on questions from trainers.
3) Pricing and you get GMAT club tests free. This sealed the deal for me.
4) Ability Quizzes and analysis.
5) Quiz questions closely resemble the GMAT test, but I have seen few odd balls.
6) In All major concept videos such as parallelism, -ing modifier, you can review the crux of the topic without the need to watch the entire video again.
7) You have a one week trial period, I believe, during which you can try the program and check if it suits your learning style.
8) Commitment of trainers. Payal, Shraddha and many other trainers truly want to see you succeed and show commitment.

CONS:
1) CR and RC training videos can be improved. If E-GMAT can make their CR and RC sections as good as their SC section is , then they will surely dominate the GMAT training program world.

I have not used their Quant training program, so I cannot comment on it.

In short, If you are struggling with SC,CR and RC then definitely E_GMAT will help you succeed. However, E-GMAT is not a magic pill. The course will help you 60%, but you need to put in 50 % ( 110%) to slay GMAT.

I will be writing a note on how I scored 720 in which I will talk about what GMAT actually tests. The soft skills that I believe are critical for your success.

I am working on my application now. Once I am done with the same, you can expect to read my story. Till then work hard and be focused my friends.

All the best!!!.

Regards,
Arun

Hi amariappan ,

That was a very detailed review and quite helpful. Are you now taking help from an Admission counsellor ?

October 30, 2016
amariappan

Hi @brijeshbangalore ,

Thanks for the comment. I am applying to only one program -"Chicago Booth Weekend MBA program". I have several reasons to choose this particular program and will write a separate article about the same. I have been looking at various admission consultant's reviews . Even though many of them sound promising, I believe I can write my essays without any assistance. I am using ApplicantLab to help me frame my essays and it is way cheaper than what many admission consultants charge for their service.

Once I get my admit, I will write a detailed review on how I prepared for GMAT, what does GMAT actually tests and few tips on app process.

Thanks,
Arun
