Quick Snapshot

Know your Potential GMAT Score

The most important point that an applicant must understand is what could be your potential GMAT score. We are saying this because it is an important criterion for colleges. It usually tends to be non-negotiable, so you at least need to know a range, what's the minimum possible for you or what you could go up to. This will help you plan other parts of your application accordingly.

If you've not taken it, our experts suggest that you should take a mock and then analyze your strength and weakness.

These mocks are freely available; you can just download them from mba.com and potentially get a couple of mocks free and figure out exactly where you stand in terms of identifying potential improvements and timelines.

What are the Options Available?

There are now several colleges that have started taking up GRE as an option, so if you're more comfortable with that and would like to explore that, then you must give that a shot as well.

To be honest, having a low GMAT is not a deal breaker! It's just one of the factors. We agree it is a key factor, but a lot of other elements play into your application, like essays, references, and profile. If you have a low GMAT or you believe you cannot cross a certain threshold, you must invest more time in actually distinguishing yourself, understanding what the typical candidate profile should be, and ensuring that your story does stick out.

Planning your Application

Outline a roadmap for your essays and understand by when you will be actually comfortable submitting it. Your essays should reflect your personality and how you are actually a person. It should be aligned with your application, where you have mentioned your goals, accomplishments, contributions, and vision.

The next step is to attend the GRE or retake the GMAT, whichever is applicable, and finally set the goals, and it should always be agile. As it ensures that you can alter your priorities regarding your dream schools according to your application.

To help you create a strong application, be a part of our coffee chat which we do every alternate week, where you can have a chance to talk to alums of top B-schools and clear all your doubts and know your future classmates!

For instance, if you believe you cannot achieve a certain GMAT score for a particular school, or believe that you will be able to exceed the score, then it will help you plan your mix of dream, target and safety schools accordingly.

Also, to clarify the fact, the GMAT score isn’t the only reason why your application doesn't get accepted. When we ask what the potential GMAT score is, we don’t want you to focus on getting the highest ever but good enough not to be the deal breaker.

With this, we come to an end; we hope we are able to give you some expert advice regarding the roadmap for GMAT, and if you need an upper hand, our experts will always be happy to take your questions and answer them according to your application.
