Hi
rippedshred,
Thank you for your post. In order to offer some thoughts, I would first encourage you to consider what types of programs (full-time two-year programs? one-year programs? part-time programs?) and geographies you are hoping to target. Your career goals are super important when picking schools as well. What industries do you hope to work in? Which companies? What kind of roles? Where?
Once you sort those baseline details out, you can take a more refined approach. Given how crowded and competitive the field is for Indian applicants, much of the conventional wisdom suggests that you should target schools where your GMAT score is ~30 points above the school's average. (That gap probably diminishes a little bit the further down-ranking you go, but it's still a decent starting point to figure out where you might align.)
If you do end up with a 620 GMAT, then you will likely end up needing to look outside of the U.S. top 50, with some potential "reach" opportunities for slightly higher-ranked schools (e.g., in the 40s) that have less aggressive GMAT averages, but you'd have to be very selective in there, and most would be very difficult with only a 620. You seem to be pretty early in the process (and on the lower end in terms of work experience), so my first advice would be maximize your GMAT score to the very best of your ability.
Once you know your score, you can determine whether it potentially makes you competitive at the types of schools you're interested in, or whether you should focus on re-taking it (possibly even a couple of times) so that you can open up your options and your potential universe of schools. I wish you the best of luck!
Kind Regards,
Greg
