Can test takers who have scored 50+ in quant share the accuracy at which they solved GmatClub quant questions of various levels like sub 600,600-700 and 700 level questions, as I am currently getting a accuracy of 94%, 85%, 57% respectively and would like to know how much I would need to improve to achieve a 50 or 51 in quant. Thank You.

I am not sure but from my experience try to get all questions right for a Q51 (However, two to three 700 level questions AND/OR one 650 level question may be wrong and still you may still get Q51). (I am not 100% sure)

Hi CAMANISHPARMAR,

Thanks for the reply, my question is not the accuracy required in the tests to get a Q51, but accuracy with which Q50+ students solve Gmatclub forum PS/DS questions of 600,600-700,700 level questions.

Hi SanjaySrini,

Your accuracy seems pretty solid, my friend. Out of curiosity, have you taken any official GMAC practice exams?

Hi Scott,

No, I have not taken any official GMAC tests but I did take a Veritas test before I started my preparation and got 570 with Q44 and V26, since then I have read the quant basics and started topic wise quant practice while doing so I have been getting an accuracy of just 57% in 700 level questions hence I am concerned whether I will be able to achieve a Q50.

Hi SanjaySrini,

Many GMATers become too fixated on the 'implied level' of the questions that they're working on - instead of what really matters: defining WHY they're getting questions wrong and becoming more efficient at approaching the overall Exam. It's also worth noting that just because a 3rd party describes a question as "700 level" does not necessarily make it so.

From the information that you've provided, it's not clear how you've been studying up to this point, so it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) On what dates did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
4) What is your overall goal score?
5) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,

Hi SanjaySrini,

I have given 4 Quant CAT's on GMATClub until date and I have scored 48, 49, 50, 50 and a 50 on one of the official ones.

Sub - 600 => 22/23
600-700 => 26/31
700+ => 48/70

Surely, a lot of scope to improve. I guess you have phenomenal accuracy as well and I would believe Q 49-50 shouldn't be an issue. To get to 51 though, I feel one can not miss more than 2-3 questions in the exam.

Anyways, good luck and let me know your scores as well. So that I have a better idea too.

1) I have revised all Manhattan quant book contents, I have been preparing only Quant for 14 days.
2) Manhattan prep, Gmatclub Math book, Gmatclub forum questions for practice.
3)I have not taken any CATs yet other then a Veritas one which I took before starting to prepare, in which I got 570 (Q44,V26).
4)740-760.
5) 24 July 2020.
6)I plan to start applying by August or September of 2020. Mim program in LBS and deferred programs in Columbia and Booth.

Thanks

Hi shameekv1989,

Thanks for the reply, I have not yet taken mocks because I'm still preparing some topics, but had Q44 in Veritas before starting preparation.

Have you solved problems for practice in the PS/DS forum in Gmatclub if so that is the accuracy I'm asking about not the Gmatclub Quant test accuracy. Thanks.

ahh gotcha, so my accuracy here won't be that useful. Since I would not use timers for a lot of questions. And sometimes I would spend a lot of time to understand the concept or figure out the number of ways I can work on a single problem.

Anyways, my accuracy so far has been 94, 93 and 72 for sub 600, 600-700 and 700 level questions respectively over a sample of close to 1000 questions overall.

Hi CAMANISHPARMAR,

Thanks for the reply, my question is not the accuracy required in the tests to get a Q51, but accuracy with which Q50+ students solve Gmatclub forum PS/DS questions of 600,600-700,700 level questions.

I got your point but if you want to gauge your accuracy rates then ONLY use official questions/official mocks to plan your studies. The GMATCLUB forum accuracy rates are an average of apples and oranges which have no meaning. Also, these accuracy rates are calculated over time, maybe weeks, months, years, etc. What are you trying to measure? Maybe you have improved with your prep overtime. Maybe you made more mistakes at the beginning and now your accuracy rates have improved? What and how much can you infer from such an average? I hope you get my point.

However, recent test-takers have reported that they found the questions on the quant section of the actual GMAT exam of a higher level than those found in OGs and official mocks hence use the questions from test prep companies, etc only to gain exposure to difficult questions and for practice.

All the best!

Hi SanjaySrini,

If you took your initial practice CAT/mock right before you began your studies - and you've been studying for just 2 weeks - then you shouldn't expect to have mastered any GMAT concepts just yet. Many Test Takers spend 3 months (or more) of consistent study time before they hit their 'peak' scores, so you should continue working on honing your knowledge and test-taking skills at this point. I suggest that you study as you like for the next 2 weeks, then take a NEW, FULL-LENGTH CAT. Once you have that score result, you should post back here (or you can feel free to PM me directly) and we can discuss the results and how you might adjust your studies going forward.

From what you've described, you've given yourself plenty of time to study - which is good. That having been said, a 740+ Score is approximately the 97th percentile (meaning that most GMATers will never score that high regardless of how long they study or the number of times that they take the Official Exam). To increase your chances of earning that type of Score, you would likely find it beneficial to invest in a GMAT Course of some type (either Guided Self-Study or instructor-led).

In addition, since you are interested in some highly-competitive Schools, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement.

There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

https://gmatclub.com/forum/ask-admissio ... tants-124/

1) Going forward, how many hours do you think you can consistently study each week?

Hi SanjaySrini,

If you can consistently study that amount each week, then you could potentially improve a great deal. At this point, we need to better assess how effective "your way" of studying is, so you should proceed as we discussed and take a NEW CAT in about 2 weeks. With that extra data, we can then adapt your plan accordingly.

Why don't you take an official practice exam just to get a baseline score?
