Hi,
I took my GMAT today and received a 630 (Quant 46, Verbal 31, but IR of 7). This score seems competitive for the programs I intend to apply to but not enough for their scholarships (start at 650). Do I have a strong case by leveraging my high IR score despite my overall score being 20 points shy of target?
In addition, I'm seeking a career in healthcare management (I'm a pharmacist) and had my eye on healthcare management consulting. Is the dream of consulting just that (armed with a 630) or will my IR (I've read that top consulting firms are now placing heavier emphasis on IR scores for recruitment) and a potentially stellar GPA in business school compensate and give me a chance? If so, I'll readily take a position in health strategy (hospital, LHINs, etc.) if consulting is automatically out due to the scores. Otherwise, are boutique consulting firms options for me? I've also read that consulting recruitment is very formulaic, so your advice will help clear a lot for me.
I'd love your expert opinion on this matter.
Kindly,
Naeem K
