Explanation:

(A) The comma after platinum plans followed by there are leads to run on sentence error. Rejected.
(B) There is no cause and effect intended in the original sentence. So, because is incorrect. Rejected.
(C) However, will mark a digression to a different subject but the sentence after semicolon talks about the plans further elaborating on them. Rejected.

The correct answer is (E). The sentence is about the different coverage plans that are offered by the national insurance firm. The word "although" is used to introduce a contrast, and it is followed by a clause that describes the contrast. In this case, the contrast is that there are no plans that offer greater coverage than the platinum tier or less than the bronze.

The other options are incorrect for the following reasons:

Option (A) does not introduce a contrast.
Option (B) uses the word "because" instead of "although." The word "because" is used to introduce a reason, and it is not the correct word to use in this context.
Option (C) uses the word "however" instead of "although." The word "however" is also used to introduce a contrast, but it is not as strong as the word "although."
Option (D) uses the word "but" instead of "although." The word "but" is used to introduce a contrast, but it is not as strong as the word "although."

no conjunction => A out
"or" correctly reflect the intended meaning, because is fine => pick B
C,D,E out because:
- however, but, although is not fine since the intended meaning does not show any contrast
- however and incorrect => C out
- no and whatever to link the list bronze, silver, gold, platinum plans=> D out
- and is worse than "or"

B

(A) buyers can choose among bronze, silver, gold, and platinum plans, there are
This option is grammatically incorrect. There should be a conjunction

(B) because buyers can choose bronze, silver, gold, or platinum, there are
Because here makes no sense is logically incorrect

(C) however, buyers can choose among bronze, silver, gold, and platinum, and
however does not fit the context in this sentence and hence this option is incorrect

(D) buyers can choose among bronze, silver, gold, platinum plans, but
This is missing and; and but does not work here

(E) although buyers can choose among bronze, silver, gold, and platinum plans, there are
This is most correct, use of although provides clear contrast to the sentence and makes sense.

Options C and D seem incomplete. B makes it looks like because there are 4 plans there couldn't be a plan greater or lesser than what's being offered which isn't logical. E is informative and matches the reasoning of the statement so it could be the answer.

The correct answer is (E). The phrase "although buyers can choose among bronze, silver, gold, and platinum plans, there are" is the most concise and correct way to introduce the second clause of the sentence. The other answer choices are either grammatically incorrect or not as concise.

Answer choice (A) is incorrect because the phrase "buyers can choose among bronze, silver, gold, and platinum plans, there are" is a comma splice. A comma splice is a grammatical error that occurs when two independent clauses are joined by a comma. In this case, the two independent clauses are "buyers can choose among bronze, silver, gold, and platinum plans" and "there are no plans that offer greater coverage than the platinum tier or less than the bronze." The correct way to join these two clauses is with a semicolon or a coordinating conjunction.

Answer choice (B) is incorrect because the phrase "because buyers can choose bronze, silver, gold, or platinum, there are" is a non-restrictive clause. A non-restrictive clause is a clause that provides additional information about the subject of the sentence, but it is not essential to the meaning of the sentence. Non-restrictive clauses are typically set off with commas. However, in this case, the phrase "because buyers can choose bronze, silver, gold, or platinum" is essential to the meaning of the sentence, so it should not be set off with commas.

Answer choice (C) is incorrect because the phrase "however, buyers can choose among bronze, silver, gold, and platinum, and" is a coordinating conjunction. Coordinating conjunctions are used to join two independent clauses. However, in this case, the two independent clauses are not equal in weight. The first clause, "buyers can choose among bronze, silver, gold, and platinum," is more important than the second clause, "there are no plans that offer greater coverage than the platinum tier or less than the bronze." Therefore, the coordinating conjunction "and" is not the best way to join these two clauses.

Answer choice (D) is incorrect because the phrase "buyers can choose among bronze, silver, gold, platinum plans, but there are" is a comma splice. The same reasoning applies to this answer choice as it does to answer choice (A).

Therefore, the answer choice (E) is the correct answer because it is the most concise and correct way to introduce the second clause of the sentence.

Intended structure: IC ; IC

Intended meaning: There are 4 plans; these are the 4 plans with 4 offering the max. coverage and 1 offering the min. coverage.

A - IC , IC structure in second clause. We need coordinating conjunction or semicolon to connect "buyers....plans" + "there are...bronze." Incorrect.

B - There is not cause effect relationship therefore use of because is not correct. Because there are 4 plans to choose from is not the reason why 1 is the most premium and 1 is most basic. Incorrect.

C - (1) However is a contrast word. The first sentence says there are 4 plans so the next sentence is meant to introduce them. (2) And - Used as coordinating conjunction but the second clause within the second sentence is not an IC. Incorrect.

D - But leaves the sentence hanging. The second sentence says these are the 4 plans but no plans greater than 1 & less than 4. We want to say that #1 is the most premium plan (maximum offering) and #4 is the most basic plan (minimum offering). The option doesn't convert the intended meaning. Incorrect.

E - Although is a Subordinating conjuction which is connecting the first DC to second IC with a mandatory comma. The sentence structure is correct. The sentence also conveys the intended meaning "although these are the 4 plans, there are no plans better than 4 or worse than 1". Structure ✓ Meaning ✓.

Therefore, option E is the correct answer.

There's no intended contrast in the sentence, so C & E are out. We're down to A, B, and D.

A connects two independent sentences with just a comma, breaking the FANBOYS rule. A is out.

D is a fragment, and there's no contrast again.

The only remaining choice is B.

As per the structure of the sentence there should be a change in the suggestion

The author wants to convey with the intent that there are 4 plans and the differences of them

Hence a is not supportive
B option has because which is not required
C is having however with misplaced and
D is somehow okay but E option is more acceptable

My Answer: A

Option A: Can't find any flaws in option A.
Option B: Using because after the semicolon is idiomatically incorrect.
Option C: The use of however should indicate that 2 things which are complementary should be there in the sentence which is not the case.
Option D: Same as Option C for the usage of but.
Option E: Same as Option C for the usage of although.

(A) buyers can choose among bronze, silver, gold, and platinum plans, there are - meaning issue (read the non underlined portion after the underlined portion)

(B) because buyers can choose bronze, silver, gold, or platinum, there are - meaning issue (read the non underlined portion after the underlined portion)

(C) however, buyers can choose among bronze, silver, gold, and platinum, and - meaning issue (read the non underlined portion after the underlined portion)

(D) buyers can choose among bronze, silver, gold, platinum plans, but - "there are" should be added to correct the sentence

This is correct.
(B) Here is no reasoning for the simple sentence, so because can't be used here.
(C) and is used two times which can't be true
(D) This looks like a complex sentence, but the structure is wrong
(E) Same as B, no reasoning here so can't use although either.
