Thank you! Will definitly look into those questions. Were reading the first two books and only did the few practice questions in the book. But i guess i will pause more often and practice directly after reading the corresponding chapter.
Do you recommend only practicing the 700+ questions, or are the lower ranked questions testing different concepts?

most of the 700+ level questions carry 'meaning' issue, but lower level questions test 'grammar', probably. so, if you practice only 700+ level questions, you may not do well in the lower level questions. i think you should touch/practice every types question.

Just started going through the questions related to Manhattan books 1 and 2. Worked through the 600-700 and 700+.

600-700 ones are most of the time quite easy, but 700+ are quite tricky.
Will keep learning like this i guess.

Nevadas
Hello,

i just started looking into the GMAT, since i need it, like everyone else here, to apply to my university of choice.

In my first CAT on the official site (without preparation) i hit a 640 (Q41/V39).
After reading the Cracking the GMAT book, i took another one (around a week later) and scored a 700 (Q44/V41).

Now i got myself the Manhattan prep books and want to start working with those to improve my score to a level i am comfortable with taking the real test.

My question to you is:
How do i best approach these ressources and how do i get the most out of the time i am studying? I am not really keen on studying hundreds of hours for a test i can toss in the trash after enrolling in my desired masters program ;)

The average score of the masters program i want to apply for sits at 720, so being above that should be the goal.

Looking forward to your answers!

Greetings

Hi Nevadas,

60 point improvement in a week seems a bit unrealistic. I hope you have used the right methods to solve questions and you didn't get lucky with a few questions. Your Verbal score is decent. You just have to work on the Quant portion.

The ideal thing would be to analyze your mocks in detail and identify the weak areas. Once you identify them, start learning the concepts and the methodology for each topic before you practice questions of that topic. You can go through the below articles to understand how to strategize your prep in an effective way.

How to effectively plan your studies for GMAT

How to score 700+ on GMAT

And you can go through the recording below to understand how to strategize your GMAT prep in an effective way.

And I suggest you to have a proper study plan and develop a habit of studying daily because consistency and a proper structure are the key to scoring well on GMAT. And take another mock only after you are done with the entire prep.

Hope it helped. Feel free to get in touch if you need any more help with the study strategy.

I hope so too. Also did a princeton review test the day before the second official one and scored a 690. Tho i don´t know how accurate these tests are. I guess i´ll first work through the manhattan books and the questions on here and then try again.

Hope i use my time well studying like this.

Thanks for your reply!
