I would recommend selecting R2 schools with a common letter of recommendation now and queuing that up. You wont find out results from R1 until early to mid December and recs are due for top schools the week of New Years. This is usually not an ideal time to ask for support from colleagues who might be vacationing. Everyone should be prepping talking points for recommenders big mistake to just pitch it over the fence and hope for best. BIG mistake. Whenever results are disappointing this is the common denominator, for me.

Going for three in R1. Yeah I hate asking my recs to give up their time even though they seem happy to do so. Thankfully Booth and HBS have the same questions. Hopefully I don't have to ask them for more in R2!

What is everyone thinking for work count range in the two min 250 word essays? I am at about 700 & 900 for them, just want to make sure that is reasonable!

From just talking to a friend who is an alumnus they think that is a little long. I might try to make a few more cuts and shave 100 words off of each. I am sure as long as you don't go crazy with a novel it won't matter too much

Appreciate it. I have two recent Booth grads on my current team and I am going to go over my app with them on Monday or Tuesday. I will make sure to ask about the shapetheclass and let you know what they say!

Marger my essays were around 550 words each. I went with the “less is more” approach and tried to keep them as succinct and tight as possible.

I think since there are two essays for Booth (vs. long one for programs like HBS), the expectation is that they’re on the shorter side. But if you’re using all 700/900 words effectively and have engaging essays, I don’t see them penalizing you for the length. Just my two cents.

Hi Marger

The alum I spoke to rated my personal essay an 10/100. I did not even dare to ask him the word countlimit to be maintained after his scathing review.

I will get back after talking to him again.

Hi redskull1,

You mean for the question in the applications: "How many times have you received a total GMAT or GRE score?" we don't have to include canceled scores? Are you sure?

What’s your plan then? Are you considering pushing to R2 or not sleeping? :-)

I would say you should always shoot for R1 but if you can improve your app 10% or more, probably a good idea to take some more time.

Hi bb,

Everything else has come out well to tell you the truth. The LORs, the other 'how will Booth help you' essay are in good shape.

The personal essay only is in bad condition. I have a decent version I think right now. It is maybe a 40/100. I will apply with that essay. Let's see how things go.

My previous essay had a story telling format. I've decided to just answer the question in this version. Fingers crossed.

How soon after the deadline do you expect interview invites? Does anyone know much about off campus interviews?

Looking at last year, the Interview Invites came out Oct 16, 2018 9 AM Central. (it is in the first post) :-)

P.S. I don't know much about off-campus interviews for Booth unfortunately... but many like interviewing with AdCom instead of students or alums as it prevents a personality clash. Does not happen often but people are paranoid so they try to minimize risk.

I just downloaded the clear admit Round 1 M7 guide and they have it for 2018 as October 15. In 2017 it was October 9. So it could be the 7th or 14th this year.
