Kellogg aims to interview all its applicants. However, given the logistics and other reasons, it is not possible to interview all the applicants and eventually 85-90% applicants are interviewed. The rest 10-15% applicants are said to have received an interview waiver. These people will receive an application update without having to appear for the interview. Now, logically there could be any reason to get an interview waiver, but there are only three possible outcomes:
1. You get admitted - without interview, admission committee has one less dimension to evaluate you on. Therefore, if the rest of your application portrays you in a way that the adcoms wouldn’t wanna miss having you at their school, then it’s probable that they will roll out an admit without an interview
2. You get waitlisted - candidates may receive an interview invite in the following rounds
3. You get a ding - if the adcoms feel that your overall profile is not competitive enough for Kellogg, they may reject you
Statistically speaking, there have been cases of all the three scenarios, but a probability of getting a ding is the highest.
