Received invite for interview last night. Doing an in person interview in San Francisco in November.

Seems like they're doing a new batch of invites each day so keep the faith.

Good luck to all!

Got an interview invite....Super excited...! :-D
For those who are waiting for an invite, do not get disheartened as invites are being released on daily basis....I feel therez lot more to come...!
Also, suggest people to post their interview experiences once done so that it will be helpful for others who have scheduled an interview....

Offered an interview invite today and I'm in Seoul, Korea. I have three options: 1) Skype, 2) Alumni, or 3) Interview Hub Location in Seoul with a MBA Admissions Officer, René Martinez.

Just wanted the groups opinion on which interview method would be the best and most advantageous. Thanks!

Hey! Congrats on the invite.

I feel the interview mode is a very personal choice. It all depends on what situations you are most comfortable in. Personally I prefer interviewing face to face, because I feel I can convey my point better when the person is in front of me and also because this mode is immune to technical glitches (audio lag, slow connection etc.) that can throw you off. This is why I chose to interview with an alumnus. The downside to this is that sometimes your alumnus might take days to reply and fix a date/venue for the interview. It's been more than 24 hours and I am yet to hear from him. The hub option was not applicable for me since the AdCom is visiting my city on December 4th and they have asked us to get done with interviews by November 24th (weird).

In general, McCombs does look very closely at entrepreneurs. We have an entire fellows program (Texas Venture Labs) that looks to increase and foster entrepreneurship at McCombs. Along with that, Austin's start-up scene is fantastic with numerous opportunities to work alongside and for startups that are in various stages of growth and maturity.

More than that though, McCombs strongly prefers candidates that can clearly and strongly elucidate why they want to be at McCombs and how they can add to the unique culture that we have. As long as you have a clear and convincing story, along with your great stats, you'll have every opportunity to show the admissions committee why they should offer you a spot.

Thanks Schrodinger! :-)
That was helpful!

But my apprehension was on the point of view of being an international applicant. Especially when it comes to Visas/work permits. Yes, the school does have a strong tech outlook and a great history at that, and there is the city of Austin to boot, but do you see issues for international entrepreneurs?

Varun

I'm an H1B living in Texas, and am familiar with the business environment. UT and Austin (the city) are great places for start-ups, but our visa status (either of F1 or H1B) don't allow you to stay here by creating your own company. You need to be sponsored. your best bet might be to go through those firms (typically run by desis) which hire and sponsor you as consultants and either farm you out as contractors or let you work on your own thing.
