Hi Everyone, quick question. For an invite to the admissions interview, do we receive a direct email if we have been invited or do we have to check the application status website.

You'll receive an email from them. When I received mine, it was a reminder to set up my interview because I never received the first one. Just be on the look out for some email regarding an interview.

R1 interviewed applicants (or anyone who has been interviewed at any school for that matter) question on etiquette:

is it okay to take notes/refer to notes during the interview? Or does it all need to [seem to] come from off the top of my head?

Just curious. Interview is on Friday and I'm just trying to mitigate possible blunders.

Any advice would be great!

Thanks!

You will receive an email for interview invitation. Be sure to check spam folder as that's where mine ended up. Also admissions sends out invites on rolling basis as they review applications so don't be discouraged if you haven't received one yet. They expect to issue all the way through end of February is what they said at info session last week.

I just got invited to interview!! any tips are more than welcome...

I was interviewed by David when he visited my country. Questions:
Why mba? and other standard ones. Initially he asked for a quick walkthrough of the resume.
He asked which other schools i had applied to and what differentiates mcdonough from those schools? (I could not give solid reasons here.)

Biggest accomplishment?
How did I get accustomed to the professional life right after my under-grad?
What challenges do I think that I might face when I come to mcdonough? Personal/professional
How well do I gel with people from other cultures? I gave example of typical onshore-offshore management in my current job and how I have adapted myself to cater to the demands of people from different cultures.

How do I lead a team? give an example of the same.
If I had a view/vision, how will I share it with my fellow peers in a team setting?

These are some of the questions that I can think of right now. This was by far the worst interview that I had given but I think meeting in person did the trick.

All the best!

Just remembered one more question that knocked me out-
He asked- "So, tell me. Who are you outside work?"

I started talking about hobbies, but i think he was looking for a generic answer such as a comedian, an actor or something like that. But at the end of my answer, I managed to make him laugh. And he replied - "hahaha. I appreciate your honesty."

Wow - you got some hard questions!! I had a blind interview with a 2nd year student. Some of the questions asked were:

Walk me through your resume
How do you maintain a balance between your client work and firm initiatives (I work in consulting)
How do you deal with situations when someone has a different opinion then you do
How do you delegate work
Tell me about a time you didn’t get along with one of your team members
Tell me about an international experience you’ve had
How do you persuade others
What do you like to do outside of work

He didn’t ask my Why Georgetown specifically so I had to weave it into the conversation. It was a pretty casual interview.....so we shall see!

Hey guys!
I had my interview on-campus today.
Very conversational and very relaxed.
Questions asked:

Walk me through your resume.
Why an MBA?
What are your short, mid and long term career goals?
What challenges did you face during your 3 year international experience in a cultural aspect?
What is the best piece of advice that you have received and implemented in your professional life?
Tell me about your most recent or significant project.
Tell me about a leadership experiece that you had.
Since you are a business person and must read a lot about your industry, tell me a recent article that you read, summarize it to me and tell me what is your point of view about it.
Do you have any questions?

I think I did ok on my interview and the person was very friendly.
The interviewer had not seen my file and she had not seen my resume.
I brought her a copy myself.

Hope it helps guys. Good luck to all of you and let's wait until march (zzzzzz....)
Cheers

Thanks for the info!

Question on the 'walk me through your resume'--since they have it in front of them, do you talk about why you were in a particular job/what drove you to it/why you left, just what you did/accomplishments/what you learned...just want to make sure I"m prepared. Friday morning is my interview and I really don't want to screw this up.

Thanks!

On my interview I did not talk about my accomplishments but did mention why I switched jobs and what I wanted with each decision that I made throughout my career.
As the interviw progressed she asked me about a specific job or project.
I did not wanted to make my answer too long and overload her with information.
But that's totally personal.
