Ethics I suppose Should you take a bribe as a govt official? No But if you can use it to your advantage should you not take the bribe? It's a hyperbole but I hope you get my point. I've been told to not contact them outside of a thank you email. That's what I'll suggest you to do as well.

Maybe applicant POV it feels like building a connection But we are not sure how an interviewer would take that

If your interviewer is a student, then cool Otherwise, don't send now Wait for the interview to end, and ask if you can connect on LinkedIn I'd not go this far But yeah, it's irritating for them to get these many invites Especially because this isn't their job (interviewing) So, I'd ask first, then connect

Yes That’s the only thing they are supposed to see. Not our application or anything. And they’re supposed to figure out our goals, etc from conversation. Then pitch in to the adcoms. Then the adcom will look at everything together. So You can game the system by connecting with your interviewer. However, in certain colleges, you are supposed to inform them if you somehow have contacted with your interviewer. So I know that it’s not encouraged.
