The media lab holds a host of interesting opportunities for students to explore. It's a part of the school that is both unique and extremely valuable (as a source of industry exposure, technical expertise and experiential learning).
Anyone interested in the media lab offerings (in AI, robotics, digital currency) - should definitely mention it in their application/interview - it will show depther of research and clarity of thought from the applicants point of view.
Hope that helps.

An absolute critical resource to research if applying to MIT Sloan! Whether entrepreneuship or tech focused - this place has what you need to make it.
Applying in Round 1. This thread is so quiet. I also checked last year's thread and there wasn't much discussion about the application, except the optional multimedia essay part.
Anyone close to completing the application? I'm just starting out.
Has anyone else noticed that there is no way to pay the application fee for Sloan? When I click the Payment section of the application, it says my fee has been waived. I am military (a Reservist so I wasn't sure if the waiver applied) but even when I test putting no military affiliation in my application, it still says the fee has been waived. Technical problems on the site?
Guys! This year's Video essay is a bit weird. They've mentioned single take (no edits), so does it mean that they want it like a video interview type (sit in front of webcam)? or are you still allowed to be creative (outdoorsy/doing something)?
I've been wondering about the video essay as well. I've seen commentary saying that we should think about personal stories to share. Yet, the actual prompt is to introduce ourselves -- personally, the way I'd "introduce" myself is not by diving into in-depth personal stories. What are your thoughts on the content for the video, especially given that we only have 60 seconds?
Video Essay was fun! I introduced my self and one personal interest. Also realized 60 seconds is a lot of time. Mine was 52s but I was satisfied with the content. Good luck to others!

In case you haven't submitted the application yet, MIT Admissions team has uploaded some helpful videos on Youtube. They do elaborate on what they are looking for in the video.
For those who don't know MIT has extended its R-1 deadline to Oct 15 in case you are effected by latest catastrophic hurricanes in Houston and parts of Florida.
Quoting an official communication:
" For anyone affected by the recent hurricanes who plans to apply by our Round 1 deadline, we are happy to allow you until October 15th to submit a complete application. To request an extension, please send an email to mbaadcom.mitsloan@mit.edu by September 25th. We hope this will provide a small bit of relief as those impacted by the devastating hurricanes begin to recover. "
I am not quite sure how MIT is going to analyse applications. The optional essay which was not really optional uptil now has specifically being made optional. Video statement is only 1 minute. And how much can you cover in just 300 words? It has put more pressure on the applicants.
I am not a fan of MIT application. In the video + optional essay you can probably just convey 400 words in total. It is too less. MIT seems to want to rely primarily on resume + past experience + academics, not your statement.
