Guys there is a crazy dinged candidate on Clearadmit Livewire right now. She is basically calling Stanford sexist for dinging female applicants on International Women's Day :)

Very, very disappointed.

Feels like I'm the regular Joe getting rejected by the most popular girl in high school for the prom.

Stanford is my dream school and it hurts - but I think it would hurt much more if I had a significantly stronger profile.

Good luck to everyone who received an invitation to interview - to those who were rejected, keep doing what you do and make Stanford regret their decision to ding you Jack Ma style :)

Hilarious. Stanford even dinged a guy who had made 2 exits. I thought Stanford was into that. Now I'm just clueless as to what they're looking.

Congrats to all those who got invites. That's one hell of a hurdle if you ask me.

My freaking out won't begin until round 3

It's entirely possible someone just made that up.

Successful "exits" also has a pretty broad definition.

It's also possible that the applicant filed a poor application.

LiveWire is completely anonymous. I don't see any reason why someone would make that up unless as a joke.

My best guess is that the guy or girl may have not clearly articulated why he/she needed a Stanford MBA. I mean come on, you're already awesome, just keep being awesome and let the near awesome folks get in.

If you look at excerpt of the evaluation criteria for the GSB:

Intellectual Vitality -
"...We also consider the initiative with which you seek out opportunities that enhance your knowledge. We want to understand your willingness to master concepts that may not be immediately relevant to your intended career, to carve your path in ambiguous environments, and to support the school’s goal of developing knowledge that deepens and advances the practice of management..."

Demonstrated Leadership Potential
"...We look for evidence of your desire to make a lasting impact in the organizations you serve throughout your career, inspiring and motivating your colleagues...."

Personal Qualities & Contributions
"...most Stanford MBA students have excelled by doing ordinary things extraordinarily well..."

"Making 2 exits", while extremely impressive, is fairly vague and we don't know how the person has addressed the evaluation criteria in their application. The GSB takes longer time to review the applications and extend invitations - so I do believe there is a reason behind every admission decision.

Congrats on the interview invite!

Since you have had multiple interviews (and offers!) under your belt, the GSB chat won't be much of an issue. Just go in there and prepare to briefly introduce yourself, get ready to share a time where you worked in a difficult environment/team, accomplished something you are proud of, identified an opportunity and went beyond your role to drive changes, and learned from a failure. Why GSB, why now. Of course there could be so many variations on the questions but most likely you could re-frame your stories to answer them all.

My experience was that they really wanted to know how you think, what you said, who you approached, what you learned in the stories you share so prepare to talk about specifics.

Good luck!

Wow thanks for all that! Going to review the certain stories this weekend and do my best to relax!

Guys,

Do you think Adcom waits until all interviews are finished to select R2 students? Or do they select them as interviews go?

I'm driving myself crazy here, I had my interview on feb 18th
